One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

(33 cl bottle from Systembolaget Hyllie; 2012 vintage) Pours mostly black with medium, tan head. Decent retention and good lace. Aroma is roasted malt with notes of bread and a hint of dust. Oily texture, soft carbonation, full body and a roasted, estery finish. Taste largely follows the nose but more fruity. Interesting but I liked the barrel-aged version better.

.33l bottle at Belgrade tasting. Thanks Balkanlasse! Rich red-brown, smallish white head. Sweeter rich porter. Rich and middle body. Sweet milk chocolate. Red-amber alc, sweet full body. Nice! Would love to try an aged one of these some time.

Bouteille.
