One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

Svart farge med tynt beige skum. Lukter kaffe, malt, stenfrukt og noe røklukt. Medium fylde, medium med kullsyre. Smak av kaffe og litt sødme. Lite bitter i ettersmak.

Bottle from rlgk, thanks Ronny! Perfect beige head, brown-black color. Aromas of bready, roasted malts and coffee. Rich malts, going along with toffee, earthy notes, hints of chocolate, coffee and smoke. Sweet malts melt together with chocolate, supported by a perfect fitting carbonation, resulting in a smoky, warm finish. Malt goes through different stages on the palate, mingles up with coffee and later on chocolate, but keeps being the most defining ingredient of this beer the whole time. Oily, smooth mouthfeel, with a bitter finish.

Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, Cafe Abseits Tasting bottle (2010 vintage) thanks to Andy Snow, 25/01/14. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a big old tan covering. I picked this up at Brass Rail Deli in Campbelltown, PA, enjoyed chilled in a tulip. The appearance is onyx, solid black opaque with thin pale tan cap with fine bead. The smell is dark cocoa, light currant and some dark roast coffee with slight vanilla and raisin. The feel is good with moderate roast and medium carbonation with medium body with lots of malt body but still relatively dry in the finish. The taste is good, moderate cocoa and coffee mix with slight dark currant berry undertone from yeast with a bit of char and light vanilla accent with a subtle spice in the semi caramel finish with some light hop flavor and nice dry woody elements. Overall a pretty tasty porter but to expensive to have frequently it is good but the value isn’t there

Diminishing beige head. Spread lacings. Clear dark brown body. Scents of roasted chocolate malt, earthy leaves, hops, hints of teak oil. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, and a nice spicy herby feel to the tongue. Pleasant to palate. Ends with sweet coffee notes as a continuation of the confectionery from the main taste. : . 33 cl brown bottle 5.5%, Systembolaget, import by me & t@home.

Aroma - the aroma increases with agitation and overall coming toward room temp. it takes on a little chocolate and the slightest bit of alcohol Appearance - Color is black with an initial 1" white head, it eventually fades to a thin layer. The glass laces slightly very nice appearance Taste - the flavor is a semi-sweet with a nice roast. A real subtle bitterness rolls on the side of the tongue Feel -this beer is incredible smooth, rich, and velvety. An absolutely nice brew.
