COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

Overall I thought this was decent but it was thinner than expected and developed a watery taste at times. The huge roasted flavor and sherry like aroma was very unique and the roasted flavor lasted forever. A nice porter, but not one I’d search for. 1998 bottle.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2013 Pours flat - very little head. Flavor is outstanding with coffee, caramel, and hints of vanilla. Biggest shortfall is a real lack of carbonation.

Lukaduke (2144) - Portland, Maine, USA - OCT 10, 2013
Pours a burnt umber color with a finger of mocha foam. Aromas are sweet caramel, roasted malt and a bit of coffee. The palate is a bit sticky but the round molasses notes work nicely with the roasted coffee background and a touch of bitterness to clean up the finish. A bit buttery but it kind of works with the style... just not in love with it.

Mörkbrun med litet ljust skum! En del kaffe i doft och smak och lite rostad malt! Riktigt bra öl för priset!

Tap. Opaque black coffee, fine light tan head. Chocolate nose. Full but not heavy on the mouth, lots of chocolate fading to a suggestion of prunes and cocoa and other flashes of flavors I can’t quite define, finishing with more dry chocolate and just a touch of bitterness. Fantastic porter!

KyotoLefty (6324) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 31, 2013
Bottle from the Malmo government store. Black, very bubble, tall, airy head. Roasty nose of soy, umami, coffee, chocolate. Mellow, malty falvor, lots of chocolate some soy and coffee, hops in the finish. Slightly meaty. Prickly, roasty finish. Mellow but prickly body.

Bottle. Pours clear very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with notes of fruit. Bitter, roasty onset, replaced by sweetish notes of caramel malt and coffee. Sweetish, malty aftertaste, disturbed byba metallic note. OK but not the very best Baltic Porter I have had.

Bottle. Black brown, light tan head. Sweet dark bread, a hint of coffee. Some dry planks. Body soft, medium full. Good slightly chocolate flavours, dark bready malts. Very nice round soft portery brew.
