4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
šrgang 2000; Outstanding looking Porter with an almost black color and a thick creamy froth. It has a rich smell with hints of Expresso coffee, heavey roasted malts, licorice, chicoree, Butter toffee (Babbelutten),and some hints of dried fruits. It has a smooth mouthfeel with a light burned caramel unthertone and again hints of coffee, buttercakes, licorice and a burned bitterness in the end. The afthertaste is on the dry side and has a complex taste that lingers on and on.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Excellent Porter. Certinaly a landmark historically for the style. Vintage 2000:
Rich teak and dusty scarlet sit beneath a layered and lacy toape head. Beautiful aesthetically. Nose : Mostly butterscotch or caramel . This fades into a "hot" dark roasted note with cherries, licorice, and perhaps a hint of chicory. Butterscotch dominates. Flavors: Caramel fades into a butteriness that isnít diacetyl but simply the complexity of a smooth yeast next to a nicely roasted grain. This fades into a dry bitterness reminiscent of all good dry stouts or porters. However above the bitterness lies a distinct black olive, brown sugar sweetness that is immaculate. Naturally carbonated. The carbonation certainly caps all of this off leaving the mouth dry and bitter and sweet towards the edges of the palate. Excellent ale. Reminds me of Anchor Porter.

(500ml bottle) Beige/brown head with an opaque body. Nose of yogurt, cocoa and raisins. Smooth, milk chocolaty - very dairy. Delicious and gritty texture. Love it! The NEW strength from Stockholm! Thanks Luc.

Bottled@ Stockholm Beer Festival
VINTAGE 1986. Lots and lots of raisins. Fullbodied, still. Chocolate and coffe. Well preserved but a bit too hyped. Crispy bacon and burned rubber is also a part of this beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 2001 Robust Porter, rich and malty, slightly smokey. Strong taste and smell of alcohol. I think many of the complexities of this beer have mellowed with age leaving this beer quite quaffable but not top-notch. Slightly astringent.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A definitive ebony hue. Good, crackling tan head. As Fred Eckhart recommends, put this one to your ear and listen! Aroma is a blast of espresso, cocoa, anise and molasses. Rich and roasted, with loads of bitterness on the palate and a tenacious finish. Complex, if a bit gritty. Not a brew for novices or girly-men, this is stiff and substantial stuff. Label says best before August 2O1O, but who could wait that long? Unfortunately, the brewery has become bereft of their senses and is discontinuing this classic, so grab one if you can.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
09.19.04 2001, 500ml Iíve had this beer a bunch of times, so Iím surprised I havenít entered any notes before. Beer pours a dark, dark brown with middling brown head. Very solid porter with nice coffee and dark fruit complexity. No beating around the bush, this is a standby and always very tasty. Perfect body for a porter is medium coating, lightly effervescent, finishes sticky.

Dark and with a big brown head. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Flavor has lots of malt/bread with coffee and chocolate. Complex and good.
