COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 1998 edition sampled in 2002: opague super dark brown with swirling tan galaxical wonders...
Coffee nose with roastedness and some cocoa sweetness..
starts good for a second or two of nice creamy sweet coffee but suddenly chooses to show some vegital pooeyness...the vegital notes subside in the finish where the flavor goes back to a more pleasant coffee creaminess with a tad of metalicness...As Jim Carrey says in 'liar liar', I've had better

Dark brown almost black color with a medium thick head. The aroma is slightly sweet yet spicy and meaty, something like pepperoni(?). The flavor is slightly spicy and malty with coffee undertones and slightly hoppy finish.

Dark chestnut brown with a wonderfully beading, tan head. Licorice/cocoa aroma. Sweet/chocolate, mild at first, mettalic middle, roasted malt finish. A fine example of the style.

Bottle of the 2001 vintage. Black color with ruby tints at the edges. A diminished light brown head. The nose is roasted and malty. The flavor starts with creamy malts and then goes roasted and finally into coffee.

Not bad. It has a coffee and malt flavor with a bitter after taste. Next bottle I’ll cellar for a while.
