Goodgrief (995), Middletown, Delaware, USA Apr 14, 2008 Dark as night pour with smallish head and a little lacing. Weak vinous aroma, oddly. Flavor was large amounts of milk chocolate, very little to no bitterness. Silky smooth...I enjoyed this...I might have enjoyed it more, but I think I just picked the wrong beer for my mood tonight. :(
xibalba89 (81), New York, New York, USA Jul 20, 2008 Had a bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has lots of hops, without the heaviness of a lot of porters. The flavor was pretty standard, though... lots of dark malts and bitter hops. Pretty good beer, though not too unique for the style. Ljunkan (107), Karlstad, Sweden Jul 20, 2008 Sampled 080229.
2007. It feels this beer’s got a lot of potential in there, but I don’t know. Slightly chocolate/coffee in taste, but there’s also some flat lager character typical for this brewery. Boring. Smell was a bit musty too. timsilvia32 (116), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Jul 17, 2008 Nearly black pour. Pretty roasty in the nose, coffee, burnt toast. Tastes of the same, with maybe some slight dark chocolate and molasses. Enough hops to even it out. Another very good Scandanavian porter, albeit a little different. BigBeer45 (442), Troy, Michigan, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle, pours very dark brown but it is a real dark ruby when held up to a light, has a tan bubbled head that dies down to a ring and thin cover, no sediment in this bottle, left some nice tan bubbly lacing on the glass, aroma of smoke, dark roasted malt, a prominent sweetness on the nose with licorice in the background, some coffee fragrances, wood(?) to or maybe it is burnt malt, flavor of roasted and dark roasted malts, some coffee and faint chocolate flavors, taste of faint licorice, some sweet in taste but it is replaced quickly by the roasted malt bitterness, has a burnt sugar flavor, smells sweeter then it tastes, not as much sweetness in this as my nose let on to, some bitterness at the finish, I think the bitterness is a combination of hops and burnt malts(?), medium mouth feel, maybe a touch more and has a creamy feel in the mouth, certainly different then the other Porters I have had. Slayer85 (434), Firenze, Italy Jul 13, 2008 Bottled (5,5% ABV, 2007 bottle). An almost balck beer with a big, creamy and persistent light brown head. Rather mild aroma , malty with light coffee and chocolate notes. Very light hoppiness. The flavour is more roasty than the aroma and has a weird sourness. Expected coffee and chocolate notes. Medium body, average/lively carbonation, dry medium finish with light to medium bitterness. A drinkable beer, but I hoped for more.
