Carnegie Stark Porter

Bottle purchased at Gordon’s in New London, CT. Pours dark dark brown, thick off white head. Aroma is malt, dough, caramel. Flavor is the same with some smoke, anise, pine and is on the sweet side, not dry or bitter. The flavor is more complex than the aroma. Pleasing porter.

Thanks for sharing bro! Pours a dark brown with thin light tan head. Aroma is buttery, light chocolate, and light roasted malt. The taste is buttery (diacetyl issue?), chalk, earthy roasted malt, and mild notes of chocolate. Moderately creamy, this is a typical euro porter (i.e. a mess). Meh.

Pours a dark brown with a thin white head and some webs of sticky lacing. Aroma is metallic, vanilla, and barley. Taste is about the same. Not much chocolate robustness to it, very metallic with some weird vanilla and barley characteristics going on. All right.

Bottle, randomly bought at hop devil. Pours a dark brown body, has malty sweet aroma with some dark fruit like raisins and prune. Sweetness in the flavor with some chocolate as well. Good.

2006 0.5L bottle (best before Jan. 2016). Pours dirty dark brown with light brown head and some lacing. The aroma is pretty sweet with a bit of molasses leading into Concord grape jam, minced cherries, sweet raisins and a touch of pepper. Some roasty malts can just be detected from behind the dark fruity sweetness. The taste has an introduction that includes a quick note of roasted malts followed by plums, cherries and dark grapes. Like the aroma I get some faint roasted malts and a hint of chocolate malts hiding in the background (under a bush).
