Egon (301), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 6, 2008 Bottle from 2007. Black with cream white head. Dry, roasted malt. A bit thin but very nice. It should really be kept away for a while for some maturing but nice when it is new as well. A bit bitter and some sweetness in the after taste.
Imaena (218), Portland, Maine, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle dated 2006 consumed in August of 08’. Jackson says that there is a difference year to year batches of this Porter. Bottle does read 5.5% as noted below. Coffee crema head with a deep rich black pour. I got this bottle in Bangor Maine at Bangor Wine and Cheese. Resin, roasted malts, and chocolate in the nose. Roasted malts, hop bitter, vanilla, carmel, maybe a hint of charcoal. I would like a deeper body on this. I also caught some astringency in the finish especially as it got warmer in the pint glass. Well put together I would buy it agian. MaltDawg (287), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 14, 2008 Roast and chocolate malt aroma with hint of vanilla. Clear dark brown with ruby highlights. Small creamy tan head. Roasty malt flavor with hints of vanilla and raisins and moderate bitterness to support. Very slight grain astringency. Light body with creamy smooth mouthfeel. Dry clean finish with touch of bitterness. Extremely well ballanced. Very Nice. Naven (705), San Diego, California, USA Aug 11, 2008 Damn, what a surprise this was. Deep, rich, pour. Nice aroma of chocolate, coffee and spices. Velvety smooth beer that goes down incredibly well. Dangerous beer. radagast83 (1036), Springfield, Virginia, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle. Extremely great porter. Pours a dark brown color, with a tan head. The aroma is coffee, malt, chocolates. Flavor is coffee, toffee, and dark malts. Smooth and sweet. Label says ABV: 5.5% ajm (304), USA Aug 7, 2008 A very crunchy, charcoally porter. Reminded me of Fuller’s London in its dryness. Very persistent nose of pepper and roast coffee. Only the mildest of chocolate notes.
