5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bottle: Dirty amber, dark, large frothy off-white head, attractive lacing.   Good dose of hop juice on the nose.   Subtle
citrus peel as well.   Sweetened hop juice on the tongue.   Decent malt base, certainly not all that bitter.   Well balanced.
Not as malt forward as the Highland Imperial Kashmir I had the other night, but instead a good hop bite that doesn’t sting the tongue.
Quite flavorful without being overly bitter.   This one is pretty damn enjoyable I must say.   Probably falls in line moreso
with an IIPA than most.   I am still a big sucker for the heavy malt examples, but this one still holds its own.   The biggest
compliment I can give this is the fact that while its quite flavorful, with a good malt base, its not out of balance like so many west coast
examples that seem to forget to add additional malt to their DOUBLE IPAs.   This one seems a little truer to style.   Body and
mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Lingering citrus peel and hop bitterness on the exit.   I must say, a good example of the style.
  Thanks Tom for the bottle!
blankboy (2562), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 11, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ucusty. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size lasting frothy off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma (resiny & piney) backed by caramel malt. Flavour of resiny hops, caramel malt, light alcohol and a long bitter finish. Well balanced. Medium bodied. pretty good stuff, I’d get this again for sure. ChainGangGuy (1511), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Mar 21, 2008 (Bottled On: 11/20/07). Good to know! I appreciate CBC providing such crucial information.
Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange body with a small, wispy white head.
Smell: Hoppy aroma of flowers and citrusy grapefruit centered around a modest amount of pale malts.
Taste: Pale malts with a light sweetness lead you into a trap of resounding hop bitterness. Plenty of citrus throughout that, along with the bitterness, lasts till the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Slight oiliness.
Drinkability: A respectable Double IPA, though I could use a bit more ’oomph’ to the body. Still decent, though. unclemattie (1556), Georgia, USA Mar 18, 2008 12oz bottle. Clear amber color. Big hop aroma, lots of citrus! Flavor has a bit of sweetness, then the rest is all bitterness. Big IBUs. Long lasting bitterness through the finish. (bottled on 11.20.07) shp555 (1375), lilburn, Georgia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pours a nice amber color with a white head. Aroma is some malty sweetness and a big load of juicy grapefruit hops. Flavor is sweet caramel and nice full grapefruit hop finish. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Mar 3, 2008 12oz via trade with OldStyleCubFan. Needed something late night to mellow my brain. Porus a really nice orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet floral and very citrussy, certainly east coast. Taste is sweet and full of citrus. Overall a tasty Impy IPA not quite as big as I like em in flavor or alc but served its purpose right now.
