Originally, this intensely hopped ale was brewed in the 18th century to survive the long sea journey from the cooler breweries in England, around the Cape of Africa to India where the temperatures were too warm to brew. This beer has a unique floral aroma from the generous addition of Cascade hops to the fermenter in a procedure known as dry hopping.

Pour from a 12oz can. Aroma of moderate pine and citrus. Taste is light malt up front transitioning to a crisp hops bitter with lingering bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced and flavorful. Good IPA.

12 oz. can stamped best by 4/15/2016 Blvd tulip. A:Can poured large head of frothy texture that held for several minutes atop a clear pinkish gold body with big bubbles visibly active. Thick lace. S: Malty sweet/tart dark fruit smell. Not much in the way of hop zing. Smells sort of like an Amber Ale IMO. T: Smoky roast bitterness greets the tongue, nicely balanced by a slightly sweet toffee malt note. Very English in flavor. M: Medium heavy on the mouth with a bit of astringent resinous finish but otherwise quite clean. O: Pretty average English IPA I suppose. Body and flavor strike me as just about right for the ABV. Goes down pretty smoothly too. Nothing to really complain about but I guess I have become used to more American hop profiles now, as I would like another hop note to develop (not necessarily citrus) as this is a bit one-note. Overall I say "OK" but Iím not impressed.

12 oz. can from South Carolina. Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some citrus, mild resin, a touch of earth with a pale, toasted malt base, some aged hop character, pretty average overall.

Pours clear dark gold with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, earth, stone fruit. Taste is bitter hops with malt in the middle, bitter finish. Not bad but not what I look for in an IPA.

Old rating. Pretty generic IPA. Copper pour. Grassy and light bittering hops. Stale malt body. Much better options out there.

Backlog rating. Bottle at the Chrisoís May tasting, London. It pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small tan head. Aroma is resiny and caramely, lightly sweet with notes of biscuit and pine cones. Taste is more sweet and piny, with notes of resin, caramel, bread and biscuit, light grapefruit. Medium bodied with ok carbonation. Overall, decent
