COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally, this intensely hopped ale was brewed in the 18th century to survive the long sea journey from the cooler breweries in England, around the Cape of Africa to India where the temperatures were too warm to brew. This beer has a unique floral aroma from the generous addition of Cascade hops to the fermenter in a procedure known as dry hopping.

From a 12 oz can served at the Open Water Grill in Avon N C. Pours a clear copper with a thick off white head. Mild hop nose. Bitter flavor but not very flavorful.

Draft at the brewery. American pint. Pours a golden amber color with a slight haze. One finger white head. Some lacing. Decent aroma of pine, citrus and some malts. Taste similar with pine, light citrus and a balanced malt. Medium-light body, bitter finish. Moderate carbonation. Nothing special but not bad. Good for a small local brewery.

Poured from a can into an IPA glass. It’s a beautiful golden color with a fluffy, white head. Aromas of floral hops that give it an herbaceous, cut-grass smell. It tastes almost like a hopped-up cream ale, but it has a sharp hop bite at the end. It’s a very good introduction to the classical IPA style. It doesn’t do anything special, but it is well-done.

3/28/13. Sampled during CBC 2013. Orange pour with a small khaki head. Light citrus, resin, and pine on the aroma with touches of dough and caramel. The flavor follows suit, more pine and resin, a bit much on the malt backing. Not bad.

12oz can. Amber color, thick off-white cream. Aroma of toasted grains, earthy hops. Aggressively hopped, English style IPA. Loads of hops linger on the palate through the finish. Toasted malts backbone, with layers if hops on top. (3770)

12 oz can from Beer Armry Outpost The IPA poured a hazy light amber with a thin white head and lacing. The nose detected only light citrus and resin. The medium body ale had average carbonation. The taste had smooth citrus and resiny hops. This is an average IPA better than some but not extraordinary. The finish had a lingering bitterness in the roof of the mouth.

Draft at Taphouse/Queensway. Super light golden amber beer, little head to speak of. Drinks with a really malty mash character up front. What little acidity there is in this leans towards the orange rind. Didn’t care for the balance in this myself. (#5063, 6/20/2013)
