decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Feb 25, 2009 Black pour with tan head and lace. Light coffee aroma and toasted maltiness a hint of hops as well. Nice burnt coffee and a medium bitter followed by good carbonation and med/full palate make this a real good beer for me. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 19, 2008 At the brewery. Dark brown/black pour with a thin tan head. The aroma is light chocolate, grainy, coffee. Subdued nose and flavor. grainy, weird upfront taste, a little bitter, chocolatey. Mediocre palate. Maybe i’ll try it again. rman18 (200), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA Apr 6, 2008 Very stouty with caramel malts... Full flavored with a rich creamy palate. The appearance is dark brown with a very small head that does not last long. Decent aroma. Not a great beer but good for a local place. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 24, 2007 on tap-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is sour, dark malt-molasses, oatmeal. Taste is sour, dark malt-roasty/molasses/chocolate, oatmeal, secondary flat hops. Occasional. OK carbonation. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Jul 24, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with beige head. The aroma is cold coffee, cola, and brazil nuts. The flavor reminds me of Coke Blak (that Coca-Cola and coffee mixture stuff), but not as carbonated. Grainy sweetness throughout, slightly metallic finish. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Jun 6, 2007 The one looked good and smelled good. But then dissapointed a bit with the mouthfeel (a bit weak and watery). Same earthiness/peatiness that I have noticed in other brews by this brewery. still overall a pretty good dry stout. OldGrowth (1405), North Carolina, USA Apr 9, 2007 Pint@ brewpub. Good aroma. Very dry viney chocolately. Blackish brown color, small head, that lasted a bit. Good lace. Bitter flavor. Again a grapey, vineous, chocolately. Medium body, smooth watery mouthfeel, bitter fruity finish. Nice easy to drink stout. Could sip all day. Really was liking the grape I was getting as it warmed. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Mar 25, 2007 Pours out a nice deep black color with a small brown head. Aroma is very nice. Very malty and semi sweet choco. Flavor was not as good as the as the aroma. Very malty flavor, but very dry as well. i found my self gulping this stout. Over all not a bad offering at all.
