COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a German style Kolsch ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching summer brew is spritzy, not too malty, with all the pleasing aroma of German Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

Poured from a growler - small white head immediately present and dissipates quickly. Beautiful golden honey color with a little bit of chill haze. Becomes crystal clear in hand though. Hints of honey and malt in the aroma. Medium body with a dry finish. Hops not forward at all. Bready/malty flavor comes through. Moderate carbonation. Would be a great beer in Center Field for watching a day game.

12 oz can. Hazy burnt orange with a lasting creamy disc on top. Aroma of lightly sweet orange candy, cream and dry grass. Tastes of orange zest, white crackers, caramel-resin, unsweetened lemonade and dry grass. Light body almost finishes astringently dry with the citrus zest flavors, has light-medium carbonation. Not a good Kolsch, but not a terrible brew. Seems like a golden ale with Wit additives. Poor choice for a winter seasonal though, even in the South.

On draft in Avon Nc. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head. Malty aroma. Some slight lemon notes in an otherwise non-descript flavor. Drinksble but not memorable.

Tap at the Chapel Hill brewpub. Pours clear straw. White collar of weak foam. Nose is neutral to stale grain. Taste is very papery and chemically bitter. Eh. A bit offensive. So much paper piling on. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gold, as is to be expected, with a thin white head. Grainy, grassy, lightly floral aroma. Crackery, bready malt base. Lightly hoppy finish. Pretty simple, but tasty.

On tap. Clear golden with a white top. Scent is light bread and sweet malts. Taste is bread, straw and light spice.

Can. Pours a golden color with a moderate head. Not a lot of smell, but what’s there is slightly skunky like a lager. Very light on palate, almost like water, and has relatively little taste.

Brewgrass 2012 Pours clear yellow with a white head. Sweet malt aroma, some corn. The flavor is sweet and follows the aroma. Some dryness in the finish.

Brewgrass 2012 - pours a pale straw golden into the glass, with a wispy white head that diminishes to a thin cap, leaving trace lace. The nose is nondescript, of muddy earthen hops. Flavors are similar, of muddy grains, muddy bitters and light woody notes. Some corn comes through, albeit lightly. The finish is somewhat lingering, just this side of "crisp". A light palate and zesty mouthfeel make for a slightly seltzery brew: one that goes down well in heat, but doesn't provide a lot of substance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is an ok ale but not my type of brew. Kind of grassy wheat is the taste. Easy drinking smooth beach ale maybe.
