For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a German style Kolsch ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching summer brew is spritzy, not too malty, with all the pleasing aroma of German Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

12 oz can waiting for me at my in laws. Thanks guys for finding me a local tick. Toasty light grain corn sweetness. Sweet corn and light grassy aroma. Finish is a little metallic and sweet.

From draft at brewery. Pours a hazy yellow with a small head. Aroma was very bready. The taste followed and drank like a Kolsch. A little citrus in there too. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz can, thanks to tmoney99. Damn, this is one soda-looking can. I swear we have a brand of indie-soda at my place of work that looks almost indistinguishable from this. Best by at the bottom of the can reads 12/13/14, but Tom gave this to me less than 2 weeks ago from his travels, and I’d be very surprised if he’d held onto this much longer than that. I’m rating this now because I believe that it’s a likely representation of what consumers can expect to find on the shelf, and for my own personal beer notes. Pours a hazy golden orange color, with a sort of excessive white airy fizzy head. I can’t even pour the whole can into my glass without pausing and waiting for the head to settle a bit. Touch of oxidization in the aroma, stale paper; mustiness. Dry taste, light to moderate bitter, lighter sweet. Mildly peppery. Bit of lemon. Medium body. Kind of lightly soft, tingly stronger carbonation. Light slick in the texture. Not a good craft golden. I thought it might still have a shot, after enjoying the pale ale a bit more than expected.. But this kolsch is worse off than expected even. Not even close to finishing it, lost interest very quick. Definitely check the dates on this one..

Can given to me by Tmoney99 consumed at home. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma and flavor have mild pale bready malts, light citrus and floral notes, yeast, very little bitterness, actually at the finish there is not much of anything, pretty boring. I don’t think there was anything bad about this, just nothing to get excited about either.

Can. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate malt and floral hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

Tap @ the station in Carrboro - pours clear gold, thin white head. There is a boringness to this one that is reflected in the score. It’s drinkable, but there are much more exciting things out there.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass Aroma- a slight citrus aroma Appearance -A cloudy light yellow with a small head Taste - A mild flavored Kolsch, goes down well. Palate- has a lot of carbonation but is light bodied Overall- A good example of an American brewed Kolsch. Worth a try

Aroma has a slight toast and cereal to it. Appearance is pale golden, with a minimal white head. Has a light sweet taste with a hint of salt, the body is light to medium. If you are in an area where this is available and are having friends over, serve this beer as a change from the normal hum drum beers they are probably familiar with and you can’t go wrong!

Draft at the Pittsboro NC location. Poured a pale yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was grassy hop notes, some light grain. Touch of lemon, grassy notes, light hops. Crisp, clean. Relatively refreshing on the extremely hot day that I drank this on.

Tasted on 6/20/14 from a 12oz can. Pours hazy pale orange with a thick white head that leaves thick lace, and some residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is some wheat bread malt with some spicy earthy hops. The flavor is the same, very clean spicy, earthy hops with some light bread malt. The body is light with lively, stinging carbonation, and a short lightly bitter hops finish.
