COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those desiring a lighter beer that still has hand-crafted integrity, this beer is a German style Kolsch ale made famous in its namesake city of Cologne (Koln in German). This thirst-quenching summer brew is spritzy, not too malty, with all the pleasing aroma of German Hallertauer hops. While fermented warm like all ales, Kolsch beer undergoes a cold aging period like a lager which results in a brew that is complex yet easy to drink.

Grainy barley and corn nose, honey notes also present. Cloudy amber, thin head. Lightly sweet honey, white bread, and unmalted barley. flavor. This probably isn’t every one’s cup of tea, but I find enjoyment in it..I favor lightly sweet lagers, or in this case, lager-like beers.

12 oz. can. Party rate. Offensively sweet, almost sickly sweet grassy beer. Yuck.

Originally reviewed: 4/12/10. A friend grabbed a growler of this for a cookout this last weekend. The Whole Foods in Winston-Salem sells growlers from these guys [Growler lists the Pittsboro address on the side]. Poured my allotment into a mug. Pours a light orange with a large rocky bone-white head resting on top. Great retention, and it left some nice sip-rings on the glass. Scents of corn, some wheat, and mild floral tones waft out. Not bad. The mouth is crisp with a good carbonation backing. Moderate body. This is a very refreshing beer. My scores may be higher because it paired so incredibly well will grilled fare, but nothing wrong with that. Great mealy flavors, some mild lemon zest in there, and a great crisp clean finish. Bitterness is low on this one. I for one loved this beer. I think I’m going to grab another growler or two for our camping trip this weekend.

Below average beer. Tasted many time from brewery and most recently at twin city taps. This is a beer I would tell a non beer drinker to try to get them to start drinking beer.

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with a thin, foamy white head. The aroma is mild but complex, with a wheaty tanginess, a bit of lemon and banana, a light earthiness, and a soft fruity apple-juice-like character. The flavor is likewise light and sweet yet reserved, with a sweet corn character that is contrasted by some light wheat and a dull earthiness. The carbonation is fine and prickly, and the overall effect is somewhat drying. Overall, though, the beer is light and pleasant without being too bland.

Draft. Pours a straw yellow with no head (at least by the time it arrived at my table). Aroma and flavor are light. Slight maltiness and some grassy, floral hops. A slight fruitiness. Light, effervescent palate. Refreshing and well made, but there’s not much there -- by design, it would seem.
