World renowned for its distinctive peppery aroma, the Saaz hop is the favorite variety for all pilsner style lagers. This deep golden hued Imperial Pilsner is packed full of Saaz hops and the finest German malts. We promise you that a small glass of this beer won’t be enough, so be sure to ask you server to "Super Saaz" it for you.

Draft. Clear golden yellow color, small white head. Aroma of peppery cereal. Taste is grainy, peppery, lightly bitter. Decent.

Draft at the Pittsboro NC location. Poured a golden orange color with a small white head. Aroma was lots of saaz - juicy citrus, orange notes, some crisp grassy notes. Flavor was nice, crisp grass - lager yeast characteristics. Nice juicy. Refreshing, despite the ABV.

I can sum it up like this - I enjoyed the saaz portion of this beer. The "super" part, eh, not so much. Not everything needs to be imperialized...

22oz bottle-foamy white-gold. A-fruit/herbal, sweet lt/med malt-cereal. T-spice/fruity hops, sweet med malt-cereal/bread. Slightly slick mouthfeel and alcohol. Pretty spot on for center of style.

Bottle from the Brewery in Chapel Hill, NC. 750ml. Home in an American pint glass. Golden orange pour with a rather thin head for an Imperial Pils. Aroma was rather lacking overall but you could certainly get the saaz hops. (pepper and hay field.) Also a little bready smelling. Taste was alright with the saaz hops present the dominant factor. Not extremely well balanced. Seems like they could have dialed in the malts a little more. Bitter finish with kind of a skunk aftertaste. Medium light in body. Medium carbonation.

Kind of strong. Definitely imperial. Ok offering, not something I would seek in the future.

Pours golden with hint of orange and a thin white head with light lacing throughout. Aroma is earthy and sweet, with hints of grass and trees. Flavor is very sweet and thin, finish was a bit dry. Honestly I don’t have much to compare to with this style, but it was very average.

Soft and straw blonde pour with one finger of white head. Nose is really interesting, lots if bready malt and some sharp alcoho:l. Sweet malt and super spicy hops. Almost astringent. Meh

Tap at beer study. Pours orangish clear golden with a thin white head, light lace. Nose is lightly sweet and grassy. Flavor is similar. Pretty easy drinking but a little on the sweet side. Lightly cloying. Not bad at all.

On draft at the Franklin Street brewpub. Like Tom said, glad to have had a chance at this. Deep orange pour, faintly cloudy, with a nice thick head to it. Lots of tropical fruits in the nose, and of course the familiar bite of the advertised hop. Interesting taste, in many ways more like a very fruity (almost too sweet) SoCal DIPA (like an Alpine homebrew) than a strong pils, but the finish is strongly bitter, almost over-compensating. Not always so balanced or well integrated, but enjoyable.
