3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 19641948 (490) - Greensboro, USA - SEP 16, 2006
From notes 6/21/03:
Pours a hazy cloudy orange-brown color. Murky and turbid. An off-white head formed slightly and left all sorts of lace in my glass. Aromas were juicy: orange citrus! Yeasty scents and some clove involved as well. The taste was wonderful! A smooth wheaty beer with the spice of bitter orange peel plus clove and banana. The banana was muted, but the zesty orange rind was not. Tasty as can be! Sharp mouthfeel, this had some bite to it. I ordered mine without the lemon garnish. Turns out this was tasty enough not to need one.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OldGrowth (1859) - North Carolina, USA - OCT 19, 2008
pint at Pittsboro location. Ok aroma, sweet, Toasted wheat, clove, citrus. Hazed golden yellow color, small head, no lace. Bitter sharp flavor.Like aroma though the yeast characteristics are more pronounced. Lite body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, Spicy dry finish. This may have tasted better due to circumstance, flavor had a lot going on. Classic American hefe.

Growler. Pours a cloudy golden color with a white head. Typical aroma of wheat brew. Tastes typical. Fruity taste, which I was surprised to taste. Finishes not so clean, yet it was still pleasant.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 18, 2008
Growler thanks to Turd. Pours a cloudy light yellow and a thin head. Aroma is yeasty, clove-like, soapy, and citrusy-lemon with light wheat tanginess. Ok wheaty doughy flavors, light citrus, phenolic yeast and a bit dull and faded finihs- turns a bit watery and slick.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TURDFERGUSON (2757) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - JUL 15, 2008
Growler. Nose is wheat, lemon, citrus and yeast. Flavor is similar. Very clean, very easy drinking. Didn’t taste much of banana flavors I am used to tasting if my hefes. Could of sworn this was just an american wheat ale. Solid effort from carolina brewery and much more drinkable than a few of their offerings.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 3fourths (6400) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 14, 2008
Nose of sweet lemon and wheat, some creamy hefeweizen yeast, and a twang of oranges. Flavor isn’t much different: creamy, sweetened wheat and oranges, medium to light body, somewhat oily and syrupy while still being a bit thin, with a chewy/chunk wheat character throughout. Not bad.

Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of TURDFERGUSON. Thanks, Sam! Pours a hazy golden color; fluffy white head with good retention and mixed-bubbled lacing. Wheatiness, light citrus, and doughy yeast in the aroma; dry, crisp, husky. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy yeastiness, citrus, minerals, and breadiness upfront; average carbonation; light acidity coming through; very drinkable stuff. Medium finish: breadiness, wheat, and citrus; ends quite dry and crisp.

Draught. Cloudy, with a small white head. There is a fairly strong aroma of bananas and clove in the yeast. Typical hefe, tastes pretty normal, yeasty, fruity, and decent.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2010 Re-rate. Probably one of my favorite brews from them. Not saying much. Pours a cloudy lemon rind yellow with a one finger foamy white head. Nose is earthy and wheaty with some yeast, isoamyl acetate, clove, and citrus zest. Flavor shows some mild clove and spice with banana in the background and a mild tartness. Round crisp mouthfeel with a mild tartness.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours cloudy yeloow with white head. The aroma is banana and clove with hearty yeast notes. The flavor is banana and clove of course, with slight toasty and a wisp of zest in the finish. A kick of raw wheat flavor comes out in the aftertaste. Pretty good.
