Originally reviewed: 2/28/10. Grabbed a single of this at A1 Brews in Burlington. Best by date, 3/10/10. Poured into a pint glass.
Pours a very dark amber/orange with just a paper thin off-white head on top. Tiniest bits of lace cling to the glass. The nose is much maltier than expected. Notes of toffee, bread, and crackers. Minor floral tones present, but overall this is weak for an IPA.
The body is moderate-to-full, with a good representation of carbonation. Flavor profile is average at best. There’s some bitterness present, but it’s rather bland and boring. No real depth to this. Some light malts balance it out, but the citrus and hoppy aspect is tamed down for sure. This is a really simple IPA. It’s not bad, but there are many, many more IPAs out there that I would get instead.

Bottle. Darker golden color medium tan head. Floral and earthy aroma from the hops, caramel and bread malt. Aroma a little more subtle then I expected. Taste is mild bitter and mild sweet. Finish is pretty mild bitter as well. Easy to drink, would be better with higher alcohol and more hops. Overall an average IPA.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 ROGUE (1360) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 9, 2011
12oz bottle. Poured a deep amber color with a half inch thick white creamy head. Herbal and grassy hop aromas with an underlying sweet caramel maltiness. Fresh citrusy hop flavor upfront with a slight caramel malty appearance. A bit of a hop bite jumps in before finishing rather clean and citrusy. Medium bodied, smooth mouth feel, malts and hops well balanced.

Orange pour with a thin white head. Aroma is light citrus and malt. Solid IPA but nothing mind-blowing. I’d drink a few of these and be happy.

Bottle sample at the Front Porch tasting. Clear amber pour with a thin off-white head. Nose is grainy malt, caramel and floral hops. Flavor is thin metallic and grainy with very little hop character.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 20, 2010
Sample at the "Beer Tasting on the Front Porch". The beer is a clear orange color with a thin light beige head that dissipates to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Lightly floral hops aroma with notes of grainy malt. Light to medium body with a pungent grainy malt flavor that potentially points to the age of the bottle. Notes of floral and fruity hops as well. The finish is bready and grainy with a fruity aftertaste. Below average overall.

From bottle. Nice hop aroma, a bit stale but still nice notes of resin and some herbal hops. Light caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Some oxidation notes present. Hazy orange-amber with thin off-white head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation, light carbonic fizz. Starts with decent malt sweetness, some caramel and biscuit, and neutral fruity notes. Carbonic acidity throughout, with quite a good level of bitterness in the finish. Bitterness increases in the end, leaving a chalky nutty bitter after with a bit of orange peel or dry citrus bitterness and some residual sweetness.

A 12oz bottle from a local brewer - this IPA pours a hazy orange color with a thin white head and decent lacing. Smells of hops, grapefruit and flowers. Mellow citrus and hop taste - not a ton of bite from this one but a very smooth and drinkable IPA. Would be a great brew to turn a non-IPA fan to in order to "ease" them into the hoppier beer scene.

Bottle. Copper color with an off white billowy head. A hoppy grapefruit aroma and a nutty hop flavor with a big bitter finish. A good IPA but I dont taste a lot of complexity here
