Brewed in the style of a German Maibock, expect a smooth, fresh, malty taste and a slight alcohol warming sensation from this pale lager beer.

Pours a clear golden-orange with lacy foam. Great aroma of cereal, oats, grass, and a minty undertone. Taste was pretty surprising and bolder than I expected. Sweet malts meld with a peppery hop that gives it a tangy flavor and bitter finish. Well made beer and good to see Carolina Brewing Company putting out something different.

On tap at the Veggie Wagon. Pours out an orange/yellow color with a white head. Smell is malty, no hops noted. Taste is over the top sweet, too many malts, no bitterness, all in all not something I like. If that is your thing, then go for it, but its not for me.

Bottle from a friend. Sweet and malty with lots of caramel. A bit too sweet, I get the feeling they went overboard with the caramel malts. But still nice to drink.

Deep gold, almost amber hue. Caramel sweetness followed by a lighter herbal hop aroma. The taste is right in line with the nose while also allowing an almost grassy finish. The mouth feel is slightly sticky but not for long because the end is clean. Overall it’s a good bock but like most in this style I wish they were more flavorful and or a little stronger.

This is a completely forgettable beer. There is no aroma to speak of, and the taste is of a beer, but cant be described much better than that. It’s fine, but I wouldn’t order it again.

On draft. Light orange golden color, thin head. Sweet malty aroma, bread, honey. Taste is sweet, some bitter in the finish and higher than average carbonation. Pretty good overall.

Copper pour with little to no head. Malty aroma, with some bread yeasts. Flavor was malty and hint of alcohol. Finish was slightly metallic. Drinkable but nothing special.

Tap at brewery. A surprisingly good spring offering from this small brewery. I’d never heard of them since they only distribute in NC, and was skeptical about southern beer brewing, but was pleasantly surprised by this one. A bit more hoppy than I’d like, but that didn’t detract too much. Very flavorful, not at all bland or boring. I’d definitely buy this if it were sold near me.

On tap at Solas in Raleigh. Pours a light orange with a thin white head. Aroma is bread with some floral, honey and fruity notes. Flavor is malty, bready, honey, and a hint of floral hops. Easy drinking and very smooth. Pretty decent offering from this local brewery.

This fabulous extra was provided bottle form by kp. Thanks Keith! Pours a reddish brown with a medium head and little retention. Grainy, malty aroma... rice and creamed corn. Pretty much the same taste as the aroma. Strong grain taste, almost comically so. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Drinkable.
