COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Summer Wheat has some characteristics of an American Wheat beer and some characteristics of a Bohemian Pilsener. Malted wheat makes up more than 30% of the grain to give it a light, crisp refreshing quality and it is loaded with Czech Saaz hops (both late hopped and dry hopped) to give it the delicate, spicy, noble hop flavor and aroma that you find in the original Pilsener beers. The alcohol content is 4.8% by volume.

Aroma of citrus which was very apparent, however flavor was very meh, watery, slight hint of wheat, and a bit of a metallic aftertaste. One of the worst micro wheats I have ever had.

On tap at Porter’s, Raleigh. Pour resembles a pale ale more than a wheat, with its bright body, deep orange glow, and frothy head. A quibble sure, but that’s how I saw it. Nose of soft dry hops and very mild fruits. Nice full mouthfeel, well carbonated but not overdone. Flavors, though, were fairly underwhelming, with bland malt base and too faint hops being the most notable qualities.

On tap at the brewery this wheat poured a gold color with little head, aroma of wheat, hops, grasses, flower and soap. Taste was floral as well with a hint of hops, wheat and again a bit of soapiness. Not bad but certainly not my favorite of the CBC brews.

To me nothing really special about this seasonal beer. it had an OK aroma, a liitle taste of citrus, very liitle head when poured. A slight aftertaste.

bottle, from brewery, bottled 05/21/08, best by 08/21/08. Good aroma, bitter. Grassy, biscuity/sourdough, peppery, toasted wheat. Clean pale oragy gold color, small head, little to no lace. Bitter flavor. Like aroma, grassy, minor citrus, toasted wheat. Lite body, thin creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Alright, easy to drink, one of the more bitter wheats I’ve had, at moment shared ipaish bitterness. A second beer produces a bigger head with the glass straight up, still not much lace.

The aroma contained a lightly spicy hop characteristic and a low, yet detectable, wheat presence. The hops were slightly grassy. The beer arrived crystal clear pale golden with a white small bubbled head which lasted well enough to lace the glass. The flavor was quite bitter with a light spice and a bit of grassiness. The malt contained a crisp wheat character. The mouthfeel was nice and round from the use of wheat and the beer had a dry and crisp finish and a light bit of spice lasting into the aftertaste. The body was boosted by a nice carbonation level and a lightly creamy texture on the palate. A nice, but somewhat boring, wheat ale. Draft at Falls Tap Room (served really cold).

Pours a light amber color with a fizzy, white head that quickly dissipates. Last pour is cloudy. Aroma is of heavy wheat. Initial taste is...not good. Not quite sure how to characterize it, but it does finish with a light sweet finish. Light on the mouth, it has a watery feel with soft carbonation. Reviewed on January 4th, 2007.

Usual seasonal CBC label with a dot-matrixed "Bot on 8/16/06". Pours an unexpected clear golden yellow color. Very busy carbonation. A rough pour into an oversized weizen glass yields an initial fluffy white head but sadly this reduces instantaneously to a thin tight cap of bleached foam. Wet, loose lacing. Aromas offer up a soft fruit feel with plenty of wheat and grass, and a subtle kick of noble hop. As it warms, more nobles appear in the forefront. The flavors surprised me quite frankly for an American Wheat Ale. A snappy Saaz-esque flair here. Nobles, nobles, nobles. Ample grassiness here. Smooth wheat? Heh, heh, heh....not here. Sharp, crisp, razor hop bittering overwhelms any wheat presence. Mild lemon. Edgy mouthfeel. Not quite a smooth wheat concoction. A pilsner-esque beer from Bavaria, not the expected wheaty softness from Holly Springs.

Draught at 42nd St Oyster Bar in Raleigh, NC. Clear golden color with bubbly white head that laced the glass. Cereal grain aroma and flavor with a light citrusy note. Crisp and refreshing. Nice for those muggy Carolina summer afternoons.
