The aroma was estery with a fruity presence of citrus and malt. The grapefruit nature of the aroma melded well with the deep caramel malt backbone and light bready characteristic. The beer poured into the glass clear medium amber with a barely off-white head which fell rapidly but laced the glass. The flavor was malty and citrusy with a strong bittering presence and a strong malt presence. The malt and hops had muted over time, but the balance was still as fresh as ever. A nice citrusy characteristic and malt. The body was medium with a creamy presence in the mouthfeel due to a moderate level of carbonation. The finish was dry with lasting malt and citrus impression long into the aftertaste and beyond. This was an excellent APA and hopefully they will brew another version since this is the last bottle in the cellar! 12 ounce bottle. Bottled on 06/29/05.

From notes 9/28/05: Basic CBC seasonal label, with a stamped "10 Year Wiggo, bot on 06/29/05" over the logo. Many thanks to GCBrewingCo for the bottle! The "10" bottlecap is popped (CBC - Since 1995), and a hint of smoke lingers in the neck. Fills the (appropriate enough) CBC pint glass to the brim with a fiery amber hue and a frothy light beige head. The head reduces to a wispy collar, and laces the top of the glass as it goes. Wet loose lace lingers as I consume the beer. Aromas of a vivacious bready maltiness drizzled with molten caramel. Snappy citrus hoppiness tickles the nares. The first sip envelops the lips with smooth creaminess. Caramel smoothness soothes the palate and warms it. A comforting softness. The warm-and-fuzzies are instantly brushed aside by a quick snap of pugnacious hops. Oily and resinous, the hops kick the tongue about with quite a welcomed tenacity. An amber seems to topple over itself towards IPA-land. Very forward hoppiness here. An amber with attitude. Firm mouthfeel. Lingering aftertaste from adequate dry-hopping. Centennials and Cascades? Two words: Yum-my. Excellent drinkability here. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and only bottle.

bottle and on draft at brewery: the pour is a dark copper color with a big off white head. aroma is both hoppy and malty. piney and citrusy hops. this is a very drinkable balance beer. tons of caramel up front with citrus and pine flavors and a blancing bitterness on the end. a great deal for $6.00 for a sixe pack at the brewery.

Draught (at 42nd Street Oyster bar in Raleigh, NC). Pours an amber, clear with a nice large, off-white head with lacing. Has a very malty and hoppy nose. Flavor is malty with lots of caramel, and hops are strong thoughout. Very nicely balanced hops and malt. Great beer.
