Thanks Skyview. 2007 vintage. Bottle #54. The beer pours to a brassy amber body with a white head and tons of spotty lacing. The aroma is spicy coriander, oranges, subtle sulfur, and tons of yeast. Lots of nice saison aromas going on. The flavor is sweet, lots of pale malts, straw, yeasts, and spicy coriander. Medium full bodied but refreshing.

Tap @ brewpub. Pours a little darker yellow/orange than the La Grisette with a finger of creamy beige head. Nice aroma is fruity, yeast, peppery, and hints of cloves. Full flavor is a balance of lemon zest, citrus, corriander, yeast, wheat, and again hints of pepper. Really quite excellent. As far as I can remember, this is the best saison I’ve had on-tap while visiting a brewpub. Cheers!

Tap at GABF 09. Pours a hazy golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma is lemony- soap, lemongrass and citrus zest, peppery phenolics along with cardamon and lavendar-like flowers. Flavor is doughy bready crisp malts, a bit DMS, flowers and spices dominate though and make it a bit messy oily and soapy- flavor and finish are a bit sweet.

Hazy gold pour with nice sized white head. Floral and spice on the nose. Coriander and citrus hit first on the flavor then hints of yeast and pepper towards the back. Nice mouth feel with a creamy texture. Very nice beer on a warm summer day.

Thanks to Skyview for this one. Cloudy gold color. Impressive, but unnecessary packaging that I’m sure raised the price. Coriander and wheat in the aroma. Flavor is a little sour with Belgian yeast, light spice including more coriander, and wheat. I like this.

[Bottle, thanks for sharing, Skyview!] Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, coriander and a decent amount of yeast. Taste is lightly bitter with coriander showing through strongly, but also the yeast and some other spiciness in there. Medium mouthfeel with a pretty good finish. Overall it is a pretty good saison, but it really didn’t do anything to set itself apart from others that I have tried.

Small sample at OSLO and Guerde’s tasting on Friday, 5-23-08. Bottle #53, 2007 vintage. Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Pours a hazy blonde. Very dry, vegetal, sharp aroma with pepper and a touch of honey. Nice, dry taste that resembles the aroma. Good, long, dry aftertaste. Very pleasant. Medium body. Frothy in the palate.

(bottle, thanks to Skyview for bringing this in) Pours light gold with a white head. Aroma has smells of coriander, orange peel, and a little deer sausage-like smell as well. The aroma becomes more sweet as it warms. The taste is decent for a saison, with a lot of yeast, light funkiness, and spice as well. Medium mouthfeel, with a dry finish.

OSLO and Guerde’s Memorial Weekend Tasting, 5/23/08. 2007 Vintage, bottle 53. Many thanks to Skyview for this rare Montana treat. Cloudy gold color with a bit of a head. Spicy and yeasty aroma. Strongly phenolic taste. Vegetal and grassy hop. Lots of the barnyard funk and dry finish. Quite a delicious brew.

Poured from 750 ml bottle number 53. Lightly hazy blonde straw. Funky, dirty fruit and grass aroma; coriander, pear, orange peel. Bit of powdery green pepper and some flaky pastry sweetness. Seems pretty clean after a while. Flavor is a crispy white cereal grain and a lot of peppery, funky spice. Milky fruit sweetness; somewhat nondescript, if certainly quenching and satiating with a crisp, sunny character. Palate is soft and punchy, light in body, easygoing and sparkly. Calm rindy fruitiness in a pillowy finish. No special moments, really, but a pleasing rendition still. Thanks Bob!
