COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like all things truly Jersey, 077XX makes the most in balancing through its accentuation of extremes. Inspired by the west coast IPAs we love, we added a thump of hops to a dynamic malt profile and chose a yeast to drive these two further than they wanted to go. Throw our water into this mix and you will find dank green resinous hops popping over orange, mango and papaya aromas, with just enough sweetness of body to make the long finish a pleasure to have around. A double IPA perfect for adding fuel to the fire of a dinner, a game, or an idea, drink it when your night matters.

Itís easier to point out the flaws here than sing the praises. The hop profile simply isnít interesting. There is a great deal of flavor here and it is well balanced but itís just ordinary.

Cool "New to me beer/brewery" received in a great trade with BostonBrewser... Big thanks Dan! Poured into my FW goblet... Hazy light golden with a nice white head that shows good retention and lacing... Nose is pleasingly dry with fruity citrus/mango hoppiness, dusting of pale malt helps add heft to the hops... Big Bitterness but not bruising.. hop flavors are again leaning toward the fruits with more tropical essence than citrus.. Light body for the ABV helps with a bigger drinkability.. Really pretty good.. Thanks again Dan! Hope we can do it again soon!

Tasted on 11/13/14 from a 16oz can sent to me by jblaze36wv in a trade, big thanks. Pours cloudy bright orange with a thick, rocky white head that leaves thick, rocky, messy lace. The nose is grapefruit peel forward with a touch of peach and apricot pitted fruit, fresh orange and orange blossom, and just a touch of white peppercorn and light bread malt. The flavor is apricot and orange/orange blossom up front, moving to awesome grapefruit peel bitterness and white peppercorn spice, with the perfect amount of lightly sweet bread malt balancing. The body is medium with a somewhat oily texture, average, stinging carbonation, and a long bitter grapefruit peel finish.

Poured into snifter a hazy gold with white head. Aroma was strongly citrus and pine resins. Orange and mango jumps from the glass. Taste is a little more pine resin than the aroma especially in the finish that for me was all pine. I liked the balance in this one, enough malts to prevent a hop bomb. another good one from Carton.

What a beer. The citrus quality of this DIPA is insane and it blends well with some more subtle pine tones that come out in the initial sip; it is quickly overpowered with some pretty intense grapefruit notes. The malt bill is kinda thin; iíd say the ratio is ALMOST perfect, if the malt was just a TINY bit more present this would be upper-echelon type stuff. As it is, itís still fantastic and makes me so happy to be a New Jersey native - the fact I can get this about whenever I want makes me tear up a little. Very close to the perfect DIPA. Not much makes me proud to be from Jersey, so thank you Carton for giving me something!

Handsome pour yields a decent amount of head which retains in clumps. Can smell those earthy hops from a few feet away. More earthy notes than fruity or juicy, and the hearty bite of bitterness at the end is a big turnoff for me.

Pretty good overall, clearly well made, yet a bit too much resin on the finish for my tastes.

This is the best IPA Iíve had in a while. So hoppy, very enjoyable IPA. the color, aroma, taste, and taste in relation to ABV make this one really stad out to me.

Trade extra. Awesome! Can pours hazy golden with a half finger white head on top. Really nice fresh floral aroma, grassy, some citrus, raw hops, lightly sweet malts in the backdrop. Flavor starts with a big punch if bitter pine up front leading to a funky grassy hop note on top of lightly sweet malts and a nice small bit of tropical fruits. Really crisp and clean, dangerously drinkable for a supposed DIPA, plus carbonation and slightly dry body. Scores here seem to underrate this one. This is excellent!

Can thanks to trade with jdb288! Pours a cloudy golden yellow with fluffy offshore head that lays and leaves good lace. Aroma is resinous citrus hops, dank, catty, with a nice malty back end. Taste is more balanced, the malt coffees through nicely. Bittersweet finish, no booziness. Very sold dipa, would definitely drink often if available locally.

Draft at the pourhouse. Pours clear golden with a medium sized white head. The aroma has a ton of grapefruit, pine, floral notes, sweet orange juice. The taste has a delicious grapefruit juice, tons of residual bitterness, finishes balanced. Really nice.

ScipioA (322) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 13, 2014
Pour is a slightly hazed yellow tinged with copper. Tan head quickly fades away. The aroma is pine and orange hops but dominated by alcohol. Flavor is a little heavy on the alcohol, but some melon, apricot and malt sweetness join in as well. Too much alcohol in the flavor and aroma, surprising and unwelcome at 8% abv. Heavy and thick mouthfeel is great, finish is maybe a little too dry. Pretty disappointing DIPA.
