B.D.G. (Brunch. Dinner. Grub.) Brown Country Ale: Matching the right beer to the right food is a wonderful assignment. The contemplation of point and counter-point can can often be as much fun as the reward of good pairing. Sadly, in a life well lived there is not always time to contemplate what dinner will be, let alone what beverage will play best with it. Here we have selected malts to evoke the crusty breads that sit well next to every meal and seasoned it with the lemony,tarragon/thyme notes of Aramis hops. A go-to food friendly brown ale for the table. Drink D.B.G because you are what you eat... and drink.

pours a deep slightly cloudy brown color. aroma is caramel malts and toasted nuts. taste is pretty much the same. very drinkable coming in at the same abv (6%) as an IPA which to me is a above average for a traditional brown ale but it goes down smooth. definitely love supporting the local beer scene. cheers!

On tap. Nice brown ale, almost a cross between brown and amber. Malty, crisply hoppy, very slight peppery saison presence that I probably would have missed if they didn’t call it a country ale. Malty finish.

From a growler purchased at Whole Foods Devon. Pours a moderate light, clear brown. Decent frothy white head. Aroma of wood chips and sweet tea. Mouthfeel is light to moderate with a nice amount of carb. Not creamy, but not watery either. Taste is slight malt, good amount of coffee but without the bitterness. I was actually surprised how much coffee flavor was in this. Little to no hops except for some bitterness. Easy to drink with some good flavor. I liked this one more than the numbers account for. Just a very good beer that can be enjoyed any time.

Dark brown-amber hazy body, medium sized off-white head, soapy lacing. Earth, brown bred, a hint of nuttyness and toffee. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, light sweetness. It’s a brown ale.

Growler from the brewery pours a murky amber with some frothy, white head. Nose is very gristy, almond skin, nutty, a little oily sesame. Flavor follows, almond, gristy, biscuit, brown sugar. Oily finish.

Growler shared by nimbleprop. Thanks! Hazy mahogany body with a small tan head. Aromas of robust malt, dank earth, brown bread. A touch of bitterness in the finish. Pine notes. Decent.

Tap at Dandelion. Hazy brown with off white head. Toasty caramel nose. Hippy more than malty, more like a bigger pale with the nose of a brown.

Growler. Pours golden brown with nice fluffy head. Nose is a bit roasty, nutty, bread. Taste is crusty dark bread, nutty, a bit of roast, rye, some bitterness, dryness, and spicy rye on the finish. Would definitely go with food, very bready, dry for the style. Tasty brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clear amber with a medium white head. Aroma has nutty, caramely notes with some dry leaves. Flavor follows suit and adds some earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and lively with a dry and earthy / bitter finish that is more bitter than expected but welcome.
