Boat Beer is designed to be complex enough to merit drinking a few without being crippled by alcohol. Kolsch yeast and German malts are combined to be crisp and refreshing, while a generous amount of American hops have been added to keep it remarkable. Expect it to dance out of the glass with a whack of grapefruit and open into a crisp, stony tangle of white and yellow fruit with pine and moss notes. An IPA for everyday drinking, drink boat beer when you are thirsty from softball, fishing, or explaining why your team is best.

Now this is really something! A session IPA that kills a lot of IIPA in terms of hop aroma, flavor and bitterness. This is the kind of beer I can really get behind. It is a very cloudy yellow orange w/ a small white head and the appearance is about the only unremarkable thing about it. It has this just huge orange and grapefruit character from the nose to the citrus rind bitterness in the finish. There is some pineapple and other tropical fruit floating around in there as well but this is all about a huge expression of hops. There is just a touch of malt but this is very dry. It has a medium to full body and moderate carbonation--very juicy, almost hefeweizen-like in terms of texture, which works wonderfully. It finishes with a very strong but not harsh lingering bitterness that just begs for another sip. This beer sets the standard for the emerging session IPA style.

Pours a light cloudy yellow with no head and lacing. Lemon zest, sweet citrus on the nose. Distinctive kolsch yeast on the tongue, butter hops, hints of lemon. Great session IPA!

Fresh can via trade with Alen. Really crisp hopped mineral water. lively grapefruit, light resiny hops, and some light grassy notes on a non existent clean mineral water malt body. Crushable.

Super fresh can from DMAC. Pours a hazy gold, slight white head. Huge citrus aroma. Big hit of grapefruit and orange zest. Taste is like fresh juicy grapefruit juice with hints of pine and grass. These flavors really linger, with the grapefruit-forward citrus fading and a grassy bitterness still coating the palate minutes after the last sip. Not just easy drinking, but full-flavored and refreshing. crisp dry lingering boat flavor.

Looks like cloudy piss; tastes like brilliance. Bracing, hoppy front end melds into a complex swirl of balanced, lager-y bitterness and grain flavors. The hops stick around through a long finish. Wonderful session beer.

Can from trade as an extra. Thanks! Pours hazy yellow with a tiny fizzy head that disappears quickly. Fresh lemon peel and onion hop aroma and very light pale malts. Flavor is light pale malts with a nice sweet citrusy hop character, some hay. Some juiciness. Pretty flavorful. Light plus bodied with medium plus carbonation. Lost a couple points on appearance but this is good stuff.

Bottleshare in Asheville. Gold pour with a small head. The nose is quite peachy. Peach pie, honeyed bread. Moderate cereal. Flavor of fruit bread. Apricot tart. Pear and apple. Some dirt-covered dried grass. Light and easy to drink. Soft carbonation. Very pleasant, lives up to its name.
