Boat Beer is designed to be complex enough to merit drinking a few without being crippled by alcohol. Kolsch yeast and German malts are combined to be crisp and refreshing, while a generous amount of American hops have been added to keep it remarkable. Expect it to dance out of the glass with a whack of grapefruit and open into a crisp, stony tangle of white and yellow fruit with pine and moss notes. An IPA for everyday drinking, drink boat beer when you are thirsty from softball, fishing, or explaining why your team is best.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2014 16oz can pours hazy pale straw gold with a finger of head. Nose is juicy tropical fruit, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon, mango. Taste is clean soft cracker malt base with nice piney orange, pineapple, lemon, pineapple, juicy notes. Finish is mild bitterness with soft malt and lasting citrus juice. One of the better session ales I’ve tried.

From the one pint can. Thanks jcwattsrugger! The pour is a cloudy, milky pale yellow with a moderate white fizzy head that fades. The earthy vaguely piney hops are found in the nose along with a modest little toasted biscuit character. Some grapefruit too. Light to medium body. The taste has a solid floral hop character but not explosively bitter. The grapefruit tends to over a lot of the taste.

Nice light grapefruity Session IPA, a weird beer to send to Extreme Beer Fest but one I’d really love to have available locally.

Tap at Shep. Hazy yellow white head and lacing. Big pine nose. Thin palate but pine citrus flavor prominent. Hop flavor lingers.

Can @ 10K + OT. Thanks, Ryan. Hazed golden pour with a finger of white foam. Lemon peel, lots of cracker, and a big time grapefruit note. Some pine and herbs, as well. Flavor is really nicely dry and has a good bitterness on the finish. Lots of pine and grapefruit. Cracker and bread dough maltiness, some lemon peel, and a touch of orange. Well done.

Pours a semiclear straw with minimal head. Nose is grapefruit, peachy, grassy, floral hop. Taste is juicy grapefruit, peach, moderate fruity sweetness, a bit of earthy/grassyness, then goes into a moderately bitter hop grapefruit skin kinda thing. The bitterness doesn't last, it's very sharp you get it to round out the finish, then it goes away for a nice crisp aftertaste. Awesome beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at Ranch-a-Thon. Aroma of grapefruit, hay, cat piss and some weed. Taste is one of the best session IPAs palate-wise I’ve had. Not thin at all. Bitterness is there in the beginning, some lemon zest, moderately dry which does work here. Wow, this is a really nice session IPA that I couldn’t really pick out at all from not being a 6%+ beer.
