Draft at Barcade JC, 7/26/15
Hazy light yellowish color with a bright white head and light lace. Lemony aroma. But if wheat and some subtle salinity. Less salty and sour than you might expect. Clean and refreshing. Tingly, lightly dry finish.

Pale whitish yellow with little rimming head; aroma is light and malty lagery notes; flava is light seltzery slight hint of herbs and lemon; feels light watery yet fizzy; finishes clean slightly bitter slightly tart

Growler from brewery. Pours a murky straw sort of color. Not much going on in aroma. Taste is a good bit better. Salt is understated. Big bready backbone. Earthy. Lemongrass becomes more apparent as time goes on. Undercarbed. Not perfect but very drinkable.

Growler from carton. Almost clear yellow with a champagne bubbly head. Wheat, light pilsnery malt aroma. The taste and feel are very clean and light with very subtle hints of lemon grass and salt. Digger gets better with every sip and does exactly what it's supposed to. I would love to drink a few pints of this with some fresh seafood at a waterfront bar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a light straw yellow color with a white head. Minimal aroma of bread and hay. Taste seemed watered down with mere hint of hay, bread, and lemon. Kind of disappointed.

Draft sample at Brick Spirits. Pours a hazy light straw color with a large frothy white head. Aroma of lemons, grass, wheat, and earthy hops. Taste is also earthy, with notes of fresh sour citrus fruit, lemon zest, wheat, and grass.

On tap at Barcade. This beer has so much going for it on paper that I literally accused the bartender of pouring me the wrong beer. But alas. Aroma is slight golden wheat and stale bread. Pours golden with a nice small head. Taste is not much of anything. Pilsner yeast, stale bread and wheat. Overall, I’ve had tastier lagers. Missed potential from Carton. Sorry, Augie.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours hazy yellow with white head. Aroma is barely anything. Maybe a hint of grains or something. Taste is really not that much either. Where is the salt? Where are the clams? Where is the lemongrass? Basically, I got very little of any of this; instead, I got a super light golden ale that if my tastebuds squinted could make out some salt or gose goodness. Disappointed. I normally like Carton too. And, I normally like goses as well.

Extremely light in aroma, taste and appearance. The aroma had a hint of the lemon grass and a bit of wheat. Same for the flavor. Very easy going down, like a good lawn mower beer.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Light hazy pour. Does indeed taste like clams and lemongrass. Not a perfect combo but still oddly works. Feels a bit like marshy New Jersey clams but that’s neither here nor there. Egg yolks. Clean surf flavors. Shortbread. Certainly unusual. Interesting enough to merit a try.
