3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at GTMW ticket line, pours a hazy golden with a thick white head and lacing, the aroma is of heavy fruit and apricot with a good amount of funk thrown in, the flavor has a really tart fruity front end with a sour kick in the finish, kind of one note though, fruit and sour, not much else comes through, not bad.

26/IV/14 - 75cl bottle @ ZBF 2014 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2014-411) Thanks to the Belgian Ratebeer crew for sharing today’s beers! Thanks to Mathieu87 for sharing this haul from the Struise stand. ;-)
Cloudy pale yellow to orange beer, small aery off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: pretty smelly, sourish, some urine, sourish, weird, fruity, apricots I guess. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, little bitter, lemon rind, some vinegar, lots of citric acidity, like lemon drop candy or something. Aftertaste: lots of citric acidity, lemon rind bitterness. Not a big fan.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012 bottle from the cellar. Pours a cloudy light orange colour, with a large head that hangs around for a while, then dies to a lacing. Big aromas of soured apricots just smack you in the face, there’s a lot of apricots with a slight jammy sweetness, too. Funky, sweaty, acidic, citric, oaky aromas, too. Taste of tart apricots, bright acidity, light sweetness from the fruit, wood with a lot of sourness puckering the mouth. Lively carbonation aiding the sourness, sticky texture leading to an dry, bitter, long finish. A nice, refreshingly tart, sour ale.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton. Shared with the beards at their brew day. Small snifters. Pours an orange gold with a light, thin white head. Head gone quickly but lacing remained. The aroma is apricots, sweet tarts, bread dough, and sour funkiness. The taste is obviously tart apricots, with peaches and pears. A little grape must seemed evident as well. Not overly sour but just right. The barrel aging gave it that slight wooden flavor. Very light, crisp body with moderate carbonation. Tart apricot finish with oak. So damn good.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bright gold pour. Aroma of tang yeast. Tastes very sour, sweettarts, brine. Caustic sour palate makes it hard to finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. 2013 vintage.
A: Pale gold - thin white head. Some legs.
N: Apricot, white peach, lactic acid, lemon rind, and grapefruit peel. Soft oak. Green apple, white wine grape.
T: A touch of sulphuric acid. Sweet-tart, albeit not in such a horrifying quantity as other Cascades.
M: Lighter body. Not as oily as previous renditions.
O: A better vintage that’s nearer to the 2009. It doesn’t have that overaged feeling Cascade sours have developed.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle from Pinocchio’s Beer Garden To Go in Media, PA served in a stem glass. Pours hazy golden-amber with a moderate white head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has huge apricot, along with cidery notes, wheat, pale malts, flowers and a touch of hay. The flavour is moderately tart with huge apricot notes. These are combined with cane sugar, apple cider, apple blossoms, grass and earth. As it evolves on the palate it acquires a slight bitter note of peach skin and fruit pit to complement a tart acidity. The finish is long and somewhat tart with huge apricot and a slight bitterness. On the palate it is medium in body with an acidic and slightly astringent mouthfeel. Overall, wow, this is a great sour ale with huge apricot notes. It is subtle, complex and very very tasty. 2014-05-02
