4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 GodOfThunder (1218) - Orlando, USA - NOV 19, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2009 This beer rocked! Thanks to the people at Art Larrange’s Raccoon Lodge who brew this and got me some. Smell is strong fruit and the taste is an ultra-strong, and well balanced, mix of fruit, sour and alcohol. The sourness prevails, like taking a bite of a huge apricot Sour-Patch Kid. The fruit flavors are fresh and abundant. Then, the backbone is the Belgian Tripel, which brings an entire new element and alcohol kick and serious complexity. Yes, it is very sweet and very sour, but it is also complex, balanced and tasty. I loved this beer.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 crosamich (201) - Naples, Florida, USA - MAR 31, 2012
2009 from the bottle, Nov2010. This one could serve as a Flanders for aficionados or noobs. bright orange color. Aroma is more funk than fruit, however, neither is too strong. By style, expect more sour and fruit-forward but still a good beer nonetheless. Apricot is in the background here. easy-drinking

bottle from curly - thanks! 2010 edition. Cloudy, bubbly appearance, with a huge head. Smells, not surprisingly, like apricots. Flavor is apricot, some oak, and a little bit baby aspirin. There is a weird mix of fresh apricot an some artificial flavors. Still, very tasty!

2009 750ml.
Hazy orange, small beige head. Big tart aromas of apricots and many tropical fruits. Big funky esters. Carb is a tad high. Sourness and tartness are great, not over the top, just right. Touches of barnyard funk. Great stuff.

2009 Bottle. Apricot Ale pours well an apricot color. Go figure! It’s cloudy and nicely carbonation. A small white head forms but goes bye bye rather quickly.
Smell has a nice deep fruitness about it. Apricots definitely take center stage here but I picked up some lemon and pear. Right behind is a good amount of funk and a nice backbone of malt and oak. Smells great.
In the taste you’re greeted with the nice lactic acidic kick. Not overly sour but enough to wake up my taste buds. Mix in the lovely apricot taste with the oak and funk and you have a nice mixture here. It’s sour for sure but I feel like everything balances out the beer perfectly. Just lovely. The almost 9% alcohol was very well hidden. Dangerous!
Mouthfeel is medium bodies, dry, and has a good amount of carbonation.

2009 bottling. 9,0% alc/vol. 750ml brown bottle shared with friends. Clear amber with a white head. I really like this peachy nose, apricot candy. Some acidity on the nose. The fuzzy peach taste is very interesting. Easy drinking, light and refreshing. This is a classic to be, way better than the kriek.
