This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

Bottle, higher ABV than indicated here (not in front of me now but something like 8.1%). Pours a deep ruby / purple with pink foam that recedes to the edges quickly. Big funky/bacteria nose with tons of dark berry. Lots of barrel and wet wood, slight mineral note. Taste is delicious -- vinous, tart, fruity, dry. Tangy, puckering finish -- big but not over the top. Yum!

Bottle. A bit of a gusher on opening, nothing too serious. Pours clear deep ruby, medium fizzy pink head, good lacing. Aroma has definite raspberries, along with funky basement, almost mushroom, stems and seeds, oak. Flavor is medium funky, medium tart, fruity. More mushroomy as it breathes. Medium body, high carbonation - let it breathe a bit. Solid

Bottle to glass. Pours a beautiful brownish rose color with a fizzy pinkish head. Aroma is slightly tart, dry, oak, raspberry. Flavor has a solid sourness to it with a ton of raspberry sweetness. Medium raspberry tart lingering into the finish with a sweet syrupy note left on the tongue. Delicious!

Bottle. Clear garnet pour with an off white head. Sour raspberry aromas. Tart raspberry highlights. Nice malty backbone. Good body and mouthfeel. Not overly complex, but still tasty.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours ruby with an attractive purple head snd a sourish berry aroma. There is a moderately sour black raspberry flavor with a tart finish. Just the right amount of sour.

Bottle: Thanks, Kevin. Dense body, rich ruby & indigo tinted with a tickle me pink layer of foam on top that fizzles away instantly, leaving the top completely bare. Huge aroma of juicy, seedy, jammy, & acidic raspberry. Sour, tart, wow. Getting the acidity of the skins with the slight sweetness of the flesh, a hint of lactic sourness from the yeast with a touch of acetic & vinegar notes towards the finish. A little bit of generic lemon, too. Smells great. Tastes great, too. More of the oak comes out; tannic notes with bits of hay & lacto sourness accented through the yeast & bacteria. Tart raspberry skins, jammy sweet undertones, acidic mid-palate leading into a relatively dry finish that slams the palate one last time with a bit of lactic raspberry, sour lemon, & ripping oak tannins. A lovely beer for sourheads & raspberry fans, both clubs of which I’m currently subscribed to.

From the shared 750 ml bottle. Sour. Fruit. Big berry flavors. Raspberry dominates it all. And big tasty here.
