This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours reddish with an off-white head. The aroma has lots of raspberries, spice and mild malts. It has a medium / light crisp body with some mild carbonation. The flavor starts off with clean wheat, raspberries, mild pulp and spice. The finish is quite phenolic and lots of raspberries. Good, should have had this much earlier in the sampling instead of at the end.

Had this on draft at cascade brewery in Portland. Fruit punch. Can't get into the sours and they are all up in my face here. Sprite and vodka with a shot of grenadine?

On tap at Cascade Barrel Room. So thought this looked fairly nice with a rose hue both for the liquid and the head. But then it was an odd blend of oversweet raspberries, some artifical flavour, and some vinegar with oak. Quite high carbonation, moderate body, odd palate and not something I enjoyed.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2013 On draft. Deep reddish purple pour, very nice looking beer, with a thin off white head. Aroma is extremely buttery - diacetyl, and oak. Flavors of sweet blackberry jam, buttered bread, oak, berry, and vinegar. This beer would be a lot better if it wasnít so buttery.

On tap @ Churchillís. Beautiful deep purple pour on this beer. Unfortunately, thatís about all it has going for it. Reeks of diacetyl. Butter, butterscotch, and cheap red wine. Mild blackberry and a touch of vinegar. The flavor is slightly better. Tastes like a bottle of Two Buck Chuck red. Gross. Butter, cheap red wine, blackberry, and a touch of vinegar.

Tap at Churchillís Sour Fest. Full haze, inky purple pour. Lower, purple foam. Beautiful beer. Nose unfortunately is hefty diacetyl, sort of like strawberry jam atop a buttery biscuit. Another in our group said red wine vinegar with buttery pie crust. Taste is sweeter artificial blueberry gushers, flashes of acetic/vinegar. Super salty, mega acetic. Has some major flaws.

Ruby with pink edges and a slightly reddish head. Aroma is heavy reaspberry and oak. Taste is delicious raspberry, oak, and heavy on the tartness. Pretty acidic. Pretty damn good.

Draft at sb. Pours a deep purple with a bright pepto pink creamy mousse on top. Lots of sheeting lace. Huge sharp piercing raspberry sour nose, nice sweet balance to the tartness from the fruit, along with some light bitterness from the seeds. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Intense fruitiness--both sweet and tart, very much shot through at every turn with raspberry. Long tart finish. Wonderful fruit sour.

Deep reddish purple in color... Aroma of blackberries and acidity... Flavor reminds me of a nice syrah or merlot with acidity, definitely a lot of red wine notes... Solid
