3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle from Pinocchio’s Beer Garden To Go in Media, PA served in a stem glass. Pours clear purple-amber with a moderate purplish head that remains and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has huge notes of blueberry, slightly tart apple and cider, along with yeast, oak and pale malts and a touch of flowers. The flavour is moderately tart with cidery notes and prominent blueberries. Oak comes through, along with wheat and hints of coriander and spice. The finish is long and mildly tart with blueberry skins. On the palate it is medium in body with a dry texture and a hint of astringency. Overall this is a very nice sour blueberry wheat ale. 2014-05-02

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Corked and caged bottle from Gator Beverage. Pours a deep ruby purple color with a small pinkish white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of sour vinegar, sour cherry, a little vanilla oak, and some light berry notes. Flavor is oaky vanilla sour vinegar with just a light highlight of blueberry, and a hint of the vomity acidic acetone flavor I get from any beer with blueberries in it. Luckily it isn’t super of off-putting in this beer as it is hidden by the sour vinegar and oaky vanilla flavors. Light ot medium bodied with lots of spritzy carbonation. Interesting beer that leaves a good bit to be desired. This is my third Cascade brew and I continue to be underwhelmed. Hopefully the Kriek in the fridge changes my mind. At $30 a bottle I expect a good bit more, but I guess the souring and oak come through nicely here.
As I go on, this gets more and more like drinking rubbing alcohol. Not sure if this is a bad bottle or what, but not good.
This is getting worse and worse. Like drinking straight paint thinner. Just terrible.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pretty pour, sharp purpley pink with two fingers of soft reddish white head. Very funky nose, soft fruity notes with blueberry and a light floral quality. Lovely aroma. Flavor takes on some acetic notes with a band-aid/marker quality. Very dry with a moderately sharp acidity.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2015 murky cherry with thin strawberry yogurt ring for a head. Balsamic nose borders on bile, sickly berry sweetness dominating. Autolysis at front that blows off with warmth, arsenic and berry mid before a meaty rubber reemerge a in the fleshy, medicinal finish, fruit but off, rotting even, and it’s not blueberry. Sticky and full, oppressive.
Rerate a recent bottle, much better than first time.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, small bubbly pink head, very hazy red colour, berry flavour with mud, manure and herbal tea, fruity flavour with vinegar and herbal tea, not too sour. Quite nice but not too refined.
