3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle split with Tom and Jessie. Pours a purple haze with thin white head. Aromas and taste are very perfumey, and dark grape forward. Lots of barrel yeast with a really sour finish. As it warmed I got more tart blueberry, raspberry, and other sugary fruitts. Pretty tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (750 ml). Shared by David, thanks! Hazy purple with a small pink head that quickly dissipates and leave no lacing. Aroma is of intense blueberry jam, oak, acetic notes and herbal/floral presence. Taste is sligthtly sweet and moderately to heavily sour with blueberry jam again, lactic and acetic presence, wood and slight herbal/floral notes (mostly covered by the sourness). Medium body. Leaves the mouth dry. Not easy on the stomach, but really fun to try but all those blueberries! I liked it!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml from Sam’s, Durham. Big pour, hugely bubblicious and grape juice hued. Bits of spotty lacing here and there, consistently lively carbonation. Nose is not too overwhelming but very pleasant nonetheless. Loads of oak and berry (sweeter than I expected, like a mature blueberry), with hints of lemon juice and a bit of wild yeast. Body is nice, as prickly carbonation dies down, and there’s an understated acetic quality on the tongue, very dry finish. Taste is nicely tart, giving the impression of a younger fruit than the nose suggests, with a healthy blueberry yogurt vibe in there too (lactobacillus?). I found it elegant, flavorful, extremely well balanced overall.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012 project.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Just a slow enough of a gusher that I was able to get it into my glass. I end up with three fingers worth of pale purple tinged foam up to the rim of my glass and two fingers and growing above the rim that I suck down rather than risk it collapsing over the sides. The beer is a concentrated, dark purple color that shows a clear, bright red hue when held up to the light, in addition to a mad stream of bubbles rising from all parts of the glass. The aroma smells of bright berries, a nice lactic tartness, and a funkiness that leans towards phenolics, slight plastic notes, and an ample mustiness. There is also a nice, pale cracker like grain character here, that once you dig around for it, becomes quite noticeable. After I notice it in the flavor, the oak character is much more prevalent in the nose; spicy, with a supporting toasted woody oak character that accentuates the light malt aromatics.
Tart, though not aggressively sour, much of the tartness seems to come from the blueberries. The beer is quite dry, but there is still quite a bit of blueberry flavor to this beer, especially in the finish with a palate coating, sometimes astringent, bright blueberry flavor that tastes of blueberry skins even. Subsequent sips has me noticing even more of the blueberries, but there is also a nice, pale wheat / grain cracker character here in the middle. The sourness has a lactic character to it as well as the fruit-derived acidity, in all it is a nice, clean acidity. Touches of funky, musty, slightly plastic like phenolics linger in the finish. The beer starts out quite light bodied on the palate, but as it warms up a touch of roundness is picked up; it has a soft fullness to it that coats the palate nicely. A supporting oak character accentuates the pale malt character, but also lingers in the finish with a light spiciness and a light lingering woody flavor.
As with all Cascade beers I have had so far, this is straight forward and a bit simplistic; it does have a touch of funkiness to it, though the sourness seems to be a touch on the light side of the spectrum. Still this is definitely a tasty beer that I am quite happy to be sampling. I do like the juicy blueberry character that this beer has, though it isn’t over the top in the way that some Lambics can be.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 Vintage. Shared with some great friends at our Blueberry tasting event. Poured into a Hill Farmstead glass
A - SRM of 18. Dark red / amber appearance. Bubbly head that fades incredibly fast.
S - Lactic and vinegar scent. Slight hint of blueberries and some tart almost raspberry nose as well.
T - Yeah. Nice pleasant blueberry taste that fades quickly to akin to an apple cider vinegar.Taking a mouthful of it and doing a light swish, I"m picking out more of the sweet blueberry taste.
M - Nice blueberry skin tanning dryness. Super fleeting sweetness. 50/50 carbonation on my mouth swish. Light body and yeah. Super insane dry finish like eating a lot of blueberries.
O - Yeah, the start of this glass was pretty weak and bland and very much an apple cider acidic bomb. Then, as it breathed, the blueberries came out nicely. It’s nice. 89/100. Not fantastic but a solid American Wild beer with a nice Blueberry sweetness.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2015 murky cherry with thin strawberry yogurt ring for a head. Balsamic nose borders on bile, sickly berry sweetness dominating. Autolysis at front that blows off with warmth, arsenic and berry mid before a meaty rubber reemerge a in the fleshy, medicinal finish, fruit but off, rotting even, and it’s not blueberry. Sticky and full, oppressive.
Rerate a recent bottle, much better than first time.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2015 Stunning purplish-red body, massive dense white head, frothy foamy lacing. Nose shows a rich lactic blueberry muffin character. Some oak and must is also present. Flavor is more fruit forward with slightly sweeter blueberry notes controlling. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation and nice lactic acidity.
