COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This NW style sour ale blends wheat & blond ales that were oak aged in barrels for 6 mths, then additionally aged 4 mths on fresh blueberries. Huge herbal notes of dense blueberries in the nose give way to hints of oak & a dusty floral note. Rich earthy notes of dark fruit on the palate lead to a tart finish that dries out to a base note of blueberry skins.

Thanks to 5000 for sending this bottle my way. Andre always is there with a great PNW hookup. Purple-blue pour with a white head. There is some nice blueberry notes in the flavor and aroma, but that is accompanied by some nice funk, vanilla and oak. There is some nice tartness but it is not overpowering and the fruit is still allow to come through. Quite complex. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

(750ml bottle thanks to Nellie) clear, bright red, pretty colored beer. Nose of blueberry, stems, juniper, other tart fruit, light oak, and yogurt. Taste of tart blueberry, fruit comes through nicely, VERY light vinegar but present, more vinous and red winelike as it warms, tart/acidic linger, pretty nice fruit sour.

Bottle, as a road beer at THE Stout Tasting. Cheers to Bruce for sourcing this! The pourís deep, murky purple with a modest reddish head. The nose is earthy blueberry patch, sweet baked blueberry cake, a bit of woodland funk. The taste is mild lactic funk, plenty of blueberry jam and sweet cake. A bit of general herb. Smooth, lightly tart finish. Nice, bouncy, lively body. Easy to drink. Overall, a nice beer. Itís quite simple, but tasty.

Poured from bottle, a slight pink/purple color with a white head. Aroma was slightly tart blueberries, with a dominant blueberry presence in it. A touch of oak I suppose, with a tartness to it.

I had the chance to try this one a lot of times while at Dark Lord Day (the day before and during), and just couldnít get myself into it as much as my compatriots. Itís well made for sure, but I just personally didnít dig it as much as the people shoving it my way did. Keeping my eyes open for their beer in the future though!

Bottle: The aroma consists of blueberries and just a touch of lemon. It pours a mostly transparent purplish-red with a touch of haze and a minimal head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of blueberry. The finish has light-moderate musty lemon and some light funk. Itís light bodied with moderate carbonation.

@ Avery Sourfest 2012. Clear bright red, as of itís a classic Kriek. Aroma is funky wood and pale grains with a touch of fresh blueberries. Taste is nice and clean, medium sour and not too fruity. Notes of blueberry but also funky wood yeast. Big but restrained and fruity but not too much. Nice sweet/ sour balance.

Bottle sampled at Muckfest III. Pours a clear reddish purple color with a thin head. Aroma of blueberries, malt and tartness. Malty flavor turning to blueberry pie before a tart finish. Very nice.
