COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This NW style sour ale blends wheat & blond ales that were oak aged in barrels for 6 mths, then additionally aged 4 mths on fresh blueberries. Huge herbal notes of dense blueberries in the nose give way to hints of oak & a dusty floral note. Rich earthy notes of dark fruit on the palate lead to a tart finish that dries out to a base note of blueberry skins.

poured from tap into a tulip. Pours a nice cherry color with a nice small head. Very berry driven aromas with tones of fresh picked berries, blueberries, and some violet aromas. Very aromatic and delicious. Very silky medium feel and excellent flavors of tart berries, blueberries, violets and a touch of oak as well. Almost a kriek and very tasty. Yet another great offering from cascade.

Bottle generously shared at tasting with RB crew. Pours blue-ish purple with foamy pinkish head. Smells like sour fresh blueberries, wood and some funkiness. Taste is tart blueberry skins and yeast with some woody funkiness. Really enjoyable and refreshing.

Sample at the Barrel House. Cloudy ruby-brown pour with a medium thin fizzy pinkish-white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of berries and yeast. Medium body with a midly funky undertone and flavors of blueberries, earthy yeast and citrus. The finish is fruity with a mildly tart blueberry aftertaste. Solid all around.

Bottle… WPB Town Hall Meeting 2012This beer rocks!… Pours hazy and burnt-orange with a fizzy, periwinkle head that never seems fully dissipates. The bouquet furnishes sweet blueberries intermingled with acidity and a touch of funk. Medium-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is tart and fruity with mild tannic bitterness. Fruity, tangy, minerally finish. Kudos to the ever-generous biggsbowler for sharing this beauty!

Bottle. Red with pink froth. Big sour nose with blueberry tartness. Starts out surprisingly sweet but quickly switches to sour. Very nice. I find the aftertaste is so strong with the flavours very present that additional sip adds a reduced amount to the senses. Sweetness sets it apart from other sours.

Draught. Cloudy red colour. No head. Sour funky and soapy aroma. The flavour is nicely acetic with a little funky and papery berry note. Well-balanced.

Bottle. Poured a clear Purple color with a frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour, floral and darkfruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style.

Bottle. Pours a light pink with big white head. Aroma is of sweet, natural blueberries and some mild funk. The berries again come through in the taste. Wood, slight sourness then bigger sour elements. Very nice.

In short: A lightly funky, not-so-sour and very fruity ale with plenty of berries. Excellent
How: Bottle shared with friends, post Tap-NY 2012 Hotel party. Unfortunately a Danish-style sample on this one. Tick
The look: Cloudy dark red body topped by a small pink-ish head
In long: Nose is very fruity (all kinds of berries, not just blueberries) with a bit of funk. Taste is very fruity, sharp and clean, only a light sourness and mild lactic acidity. Oak remains discreet. This is as much a fruit beer (and an excellent one at that) as it is a Sour/Wild ale. Maybe because it was still young and the funk will transform the beer. I will eventually drink a full bottle of this and re-evaluate what it has evolved, but a fresh sample proved to be a superb mildly funky fruit ale. Anyway, it was well worth crushing thousands of blueberries to make this great beer, just like it was well worth drowning hundreds of babies to make that great Nirvana Nevermind cover.

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy punk to red with a small pink head. Aroma is citric, tart and dry fruity. Citric and smooth fruity. Tart, citric and mellow blueberry fruity into a smooth finish.
