on tap at EBF Dark brown
Nose is Oaky tart apples and white grapes
Starts tart. Finishes oaky with grapes and cherries with smoke and boozy heat. It’s very hard to say its okay or not. Overall, a very boozy sour which is not desirable.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 tricyclist (444) - Spring Hill, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Healthy sample pour of deep dark thin liquid with faint khaki head. Nose is vinegar and sharp, with boozy notes and some sweet. As it warms, more caramel is noticed. Flavor is sharp and sour after warming, with plenty of balsamic and soy. Great boozy notes with almost a noticeable roast character... More than a basic Flemish... Anyway, this thing is good!

750ml bottle from cavemanlawyer, thanks James! 2009 Vintage. Pours a black body with an inch thick, fizzy and foamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is tart and acidic with a sharper roast, dry oak, red wine, tannins, and a nice bourbon that opens up more as this warms. A bit funky with some chocolate, vinegar, hints of vanilla, and plums. Flavor is similar. Vinous and sour up front with a good amount of sharper roasts, dry oak, grape skins, tannins, vinegar, and a nice bourbon presence. Some chocolate and plums towards the end with hints of vanilla and spice before this finishes dry, sour, acidic, roasty, and woody with a light chocolate and vanilla note and pleasant bourbon aspect. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a lively carbonation. Overall, a really well done beer. The intense sourness works well with the dry wood and roasts while the bourbon adds a pleasant complexity. Nice one.

31st December 2011 Opaque black - brown beer with a tidy mid-tan head. Palate is light, slightly soft and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Mild sourness. Mild bourbon with dark fruits. Balsamic vinegar underneath, tempered by a trace of vanilla. Semi dry finish. Interesting but I am still yet to have a bourbon BA sour that I really want to have again.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2013 Bought in Nov 2010 at the brewery. Drinking now finally. Dark brown beer with a very solid light brown cap and very good lacing. Sourness is wonderful. Vinegar, raspberries, plank wood, mild vanilla, dates are the sweetness, bit o funk and leather. Fruit is great. I have been smelling this for 40 mins. Taste. Bourbon, lemon, vinegar, spice, nose heat not alcohol. This is so low in alc that I could not put this on 6%. Lemon, cherry, succulent sourness that ends on a lemon note, tart, vanilla is sort of there, everything is great! Stellar beer that I payed way more attention to the drinking and pure enjoyment than I did to the review.
