4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft. Sampled Oct. 2010 at the Barrel House: Didn’t seem as sour as people make it out to be, but it did have a solid amount of sourness. Seems to build a bit in the aftertaste, with time, and as it warms. Cola-like sweetness. Vibrant notes of oak, bitter chocolate, dark fruit and vanilla. Warming alcohol, yet still dangerously easy to drink. Spicy aftertaste. Tasty stuff.

So there you are, tubby. Look like a bucket of lard on a bad day. You baby gorilla. Why don’t you work in a zoo, and stop bothering people? Got a call yesterday from Baskin Robbins. They said that they’re down to only five flavors. You’re swelling up as I talk to you.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Nose is intensely, overwhelmingly sour. Highly carbonated reddish brown with a beautiful swirly head, thick with a good sourness, more subdued than in the aroma. Sharp carbonation. Slightly dull flavors and a weird pungency.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy mahogany color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of light roast, cocoa, vanilla, brett, bacterias, and wood. Taste of light cocoa and roast up front, with wild yeast, and a sour finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11. Courtesy of Ryan.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Courtesy of Pailhead. Murky brownish, off white film. Aroma has some sweet bourbon, light acetone and overripe cherry charcter, which I guess, are dates? Lightly acidic up front in flavor, decent cherry, light bourbon, light chocolate, sounds strange, but works well together. Body is oily smooth, little more carbonation would help quite a bit.

Bottle: The aroma consists of sour fruits, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, and a touch of roast. It pours a dark brown that is more of a orangish-brown with some transparency when held to the light and has a small beige head that fades to a moderate ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate and lightly sweet fruit. It quickly turns sour in the finish and mixes with some vanilla, bourbon, and just a touch of roast. Alcohol is incredibly well hidden. Medium bodied with lively carbonation that does come across a tad prickly at times, but mellows with some time in the glass. I haven’t been a fan of sour stouts or porters in the past, but this is very tasty.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Wow, I don’t know where to start. In my notes, I have a ton of stuff written down and then it’s all scratched out and just says "Everything about this is good." Fantastic nose of balanced tart fruit, loads of oak and funky cobbwebb notes along with a mild bourbon and light roast note. Fantastic balanced flavor and complex finish. I have more of these in the cellar and they will be shared generously.
