750ml bottle, thanks to FlandersNed. Sticker on the cap indicates "2010". Shared with local raters. Mostly hazy dark brown / red color. Thin khaki head. Couple loose dots of lace. Smooth, lightly soft lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Good vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit aroma. Moderate sweet, and tart taste. Some chocolate aroma. Awesome, big bourbon barrel sour ale, very well-done. Hint of coffee, tannins. Awesome stuff. Alcohol very well-hidden.

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a cloudy dark amber with very little head. The aroma and flavor have a nice tart dark fruit, caramel, wood, vanilla, some spices, wood, very enjoyable. Smooth and the flavors work well together.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy dark brown with beige lacing. Smells solid; tart with notes of cherry, oak, vanilla, bourbon, and spices. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. Good beer.

ACHops (687) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 30, 2013
On tap @ Cascade Barrel House. Pours translucent dark brown with reddish tint and thin head. Aroma is thin roasty malt quickly overtaken by mild buttery sour flavors. Taste is similar: mild dark roasty malt, followed by mellow tart finish. Not bad, but the difficulty in finding this may have made my expectations unreasonably high. Ultimately I’m not sure a porter is all that well suited to souring.

Finally popped this ’09. Has held up nicely. Clean rich garnet brown with a thin fizzy tan head. Big nose, dark fruits and some alcohol show with a noticeable acidity and touch of spice. A lot going on in the flavor, booze shows and the acidity is upfront with rich dark fruit tones on the finish. Medium bodied and warm on the way down

Most of the time not sure of sour porters, this ones not bad, cocoa and plenty of bourbon masks some of the sour.

From live barrel at Cascade Barrel House. 2011 vintage. Deep dark amber color. Aroma of port, dates, and vanilla. Taste is dates, vanilla, bourbon, oak, and tobacco. Definite alcohol warming. Finishes like an after-dinner liquor.

Bottled during a tasting. Pour dark black with tan head. Tastes malt, vinegar, umami. This beer is nicely balanced for a sour.

(Critique chaotique du extreme beer fest 2013): Un nez de cerise, une bouche de fruits confits, peu de tannins, arrière-goût de chocolat, bourbon. Superbe assemblage.

on tap at EBF Dark brown Nose is Oaky tart apples and white grapes Starts tart. Finishes oaky with grapes and cherries with smoke and boozy heat. It’s very hard to say its okay or not. Overall, a very boozy sour which is not desirable.
