Bottleshare thanks to dextercat. Nose is moderate bourbon with a light tartness. Some light choco flavor. Medium off white head. Taste is moderate bourbon and vanilla with a smooth malt richness. Light alcohol warming. Holy cow this is good!

Bottle at Theis and Mette’s. Pours an opaque dark brown with a beige head. Smells of bourbon. Flemmish sourness with some sweetness. Also aromas of berries. Medium carbonation. Medium to full bodied. Hints of metals. Long dry finish. Thanks for the beers guys!

Pour from bottle at What the Funk!? 2014. Appearance is murky brown with a small cream colored head and decent lacing. Caramelly, toffee, slightly tannic, light oxidation, bready, green apple, brown sugar, tangy, and red grapey aroma. Taste is red wine vinegar, tannins, pears, toffee, bourbon, light roast, and brown sugar with a big sour finish. Slick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Way too acidic and sour for my liking.

25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with clear edges and a haze. Nose is funky, dusty sour cherry and dates with hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Tough to pick out the spicing without knowing beforehand. Medium light with a tingle. Taste is very complex with cherry jam, sour citrus and bourbon, cinnamon and a touch of dates. Not as acetic as the aroma with a surprisingly balanced flavor profile.

Sampled at DLD 2014. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of tart dark fruit and some funk. The taste was of chocolate, tart dark fruit notes, some roasted malts and vanilla. There was also some bourbon and oak in the backend. Very tasty.

Draft. Sampled Oct. 2010 at the Barrel House: Didn’t seem as sour as people make it out to be, but it did have a solid amount of sourness. Seems to build a bit in the aftertaste, with time, and as it warms. Cola-like sweetness. Vibrant notes of oak, bitter chocolate, dark fruit and vanilla. Warming alcohol, yet still dangerously easy to drink. Spicy aftertaste. Tasty stuff.

Another big thanks to Sean for brining this pair...Pours a watery dark brown, semi clear, not overly attractive. Light tan head with some nice retention, spotty lacing...Aroma full of oak, spicy bourbon, acidic...Taste is lactic oak, almost reminds me of something infected, spice shows off predominantly too. The taste is less successful. A weird oaky finish that I don’t like. Decent, but nothing special at all.

Bottle shared at Maltzilla’s All American Weekend. Pours cloudy brown color with tan head. Tons of aromas; toasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, wood, wine. Similar falvors with some sourness. Weird, but interesting.

Bottle shared by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike! A: Dark brown hue, with an eighth inch of head that leaves some good lacing on the glass. S: Sourness, cherries, booze / alcohol, oak, funk. T: Ooo...this is different...I like it. A healthy level of complexity exists here in this glass. Intriguing and challenging, with flavors of oak, wine, cherries, bourbon, and funkiness. This daring beer walks a fine line between triumph and failure. I’m a fan. M: Pretty smooth feel, notwithstanding the massively complex pungent blitzkrieg of funky, fruity booze. D: While I do prefer Vlad the Imp Aler, I really enjoyed this brew. I love sours, even / especially ones that challenge the palate. This was a really fun experience. I’d happily drink this again.
