Bottle shared at CBC Clerko, from an IP trade, 30/09/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan swirl and edgeing. Nose is roasty, dark fruit rinds, fruit balsams, chestnut, dates, spice. Taste comprises earthy notes, berry fruit balsams, oaky wood must, strong alcohol wash, vinegar notes. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid enough for the ABV if a little hot.

Dark brown color, small beige head. Sour, woody, fruity aroma. Medium-bodied. Some cocoa, licorice, tart, sweetish vanilla and bourbon flavor. Very whiskey-alcoholic aftertaste with tartness.

A: The pour is a dark red/brown color with very minimal head on it. S: The nose is full of butter, bourbon, and alcohol. A definite lactic tartness to this with some hints of dark fruits, but the alcohol and butter are very strong. T: This has to be the booziest sour I’ve ever had. Way too much bourbon, making the flavor slightly solventy, some oak, and again: butter. Raisins, vinegar, lactic tartness, and even some sweetness. M: The body is medium with a decent level of carbonation, a slight pucker inducing sourness and a lot of heat. D: What is the big deal with this one? I’m guessing that previous barrels/bottles might have been better, but this one just missed the mark.

750mL bottle, courtesy of bvc (thanks Brandon), pours a deep murky dark amber brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very complex, full of oak barrels, dark fruits, maybe some bourbon barrels, no hint of the spices – very deep and complex, characterized by red wine oak barrel complexity. Flavour is remarkably complex, with dates on top, loads of woody oak barrels, mildly tart fruits, a slight hint of bourbon, and loads of other dark fruits. The tartness is not overbearing, but perfectly accented, with both the wine and bourbon barrels well situated amongst the many flavours. Lively carbonation, which brings out all the complexities perfectly. Extremely complex and delicious stuff – a highly complex sour.

750 c&c shared by Marcus. Pours dark brown with a transient beige head. Aroma is like getting sour wine and wood stuffed up your nose. Woot!!!! Flavor is sour wine, musty oak, and some majorly dark treacle. This is to die for. Gets a little chocolate with time.
