OLD GABF rating. Dark brown with tan head. Aroma of vanilla and caramel, citrus, and bourbon. It tastes wine like though despite the look and its roasty caramel, vanilla flavors. The vinous character comes with cherry, lacto, and lighter citrus, and grapes all covered up in bourbon. YES!

Bottle, caged and corked. One word: STRONG. Dark, unappealingly muddy and brown. Drinks with a over-the-top sugary sweetness, woody, more sugar and a hint of whiskey burn. Did I mention it’s strong? (#5748, 9/21/2014)

This poured a lighter brown with a small beige head. Aroma was of dark sour cherries, mild roast, chocolate, oak, and figs. Flavor was lots of rotten in a good way dark fruits, mild Porter and barrel, light vinegar and some citrus too. Interesting stuff.

Sour mash rye nose, great basement funk aroma. Deep dark sour flavorf. really great booze character that livened up tight tartness. perfect balance. will get you feeling great.

Lots of barrel, lots of booze and lots of sour. The ONLY cascade brew hat shows its abv are the Bourbonics, but otherwise, damn! Love the combo of sweet oaky bourbon and intense acidity.

750 ml bottle shared with the Quebec City crew. Pours a dark ruby brownish black with a short lived beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roast, sour, tart. Flavor is tart, roasty, chocolate, blue grapes, oldish, bourbon. Finish is tart, roasty, woody, bourbon, liquor. Lingering blue grapes, tart, fruity. Medium to full body, soft mouthfeel, weak to average carbonation.

750ml bottle pours dark brown black with small tan head. Nose is some dry dusty cocoa, cola, light spice, fruity vinous berry mingles with notes of bourbony dark fruit, red wine. Taste is crisp acidity, nutty cola, coke, musty bourbony wood, cinnamon, spice, cocoa, cake, grape, berry. Finish is tart chocolate covered berry, wine, musty wood, earthy oak, touches of coca-cola sweetness. Very interesting beer.

Pours a dark burnt umber color with two fingers of fizzy khaki foam. The nose smell like spicy dr. pepper aged ina bourbon barrel with traces of funky tartness and dried fruit complexity. The palate follows with big round cocoa dusted flavors that are enhanced by the kola nut influence, vanilla, balanced bourbon levels, dried cherry, cranberry, plum, caramel and spicy berry notes. Nice lingering acidity...Yum !

never would have pegged this for a porter. was more like a sour brown, like new belgiums la foile. not too sour, but i wasnt getting any bourbon except on the back end.

Pre-DLD bottle share at Hampton Inn. Pour is dark brown with some slight red tints and a small khaki head. Aroma and flavor of yeast, oak, roast, spice, sour mix, balsamic vinegar, and dark fruit. Finish is a bit of vinegar mixed with alcohol.
