Smells like a chocolate covered cherries. Deep cherry red. Smooth rich cherry that the sour grows out of, along your jaw. Left over tartness sticks around.

750ml bottle. Served in a Teku. 2014 Project, recently bottled. Aroma -- distinct, astringent, sour, cherry, mouth puckering aromatic qualities that leaves me salivating for more. Arguably, the best aroma I’ve encountered w/ a Cascade sour. Appearance -- dark burgundy appearance w/ fizzy head emblematic of a blackberry/cherry-like sour. Head is similar to De Garde’s Blackberry Bu w/ some burgundy color that dissipates quickly. Almost looks like cranberry juice after it has sat out for an hour. Taste -- effervescent, tart cherry mouthfeel that is more sour and tart than sweet, which I appreciate considering I was quaffing NG Belgian Red this weekend. Subtle oak on finish, but not prevalent throughout initial sip. Extremely enjoyable and sessionable. Palate -- Semi-spritzy, elegant, across entire palate. My, god -- the cherries blend remarkably well w/ the Red ales which were coalesced in this brew. Overall -- one of my favorite cherry beers. Fruit flies hovering over my cup within ten minutes, and my place is immaculate. I am truly saddened this is a limited seasonal release; I could drink this year round. Thank you, Cascade Brewing for your continued efforts and craftsmanship.

Draft pour at the raccoon brew pub. Pours the darkest possible red with a fresh sweet cherry aroma. What an awesome beer this is. Black cherry flavor with near maximum tartness. Finishes with a sweet and sour berry combination along with a red wine touch. This stuff is awesome.

Personal contribution to the “pre-club 54 tasting”. Obtained in a trade with AdamJackson. 2012 Vintage. Very dark red fruit appearance, little in the way of head. Nose is thick dark fruits, lactic, quite puckering, lots of skins, some age,… Taste is dark fruits, puckering wine, very sour, lots of sour cherry skins, some dusty age,… Puckering vinegary body. Pretty good even if I had some higher hopes.

Deep reddish pour with purple tinges. Head is reddish/pink. Aroma is fruity, jammy, sweet tarts, berries and cherry. Sour up front but that gives way to a huge jammy flavor of berries and cherry. Se lactic sourness. Nice!!

Another expensive beer from Cascade, but another that was worth every cent. Took a leap of faith with this bottle as they were not serving this at the pub at the time. Significantly better than the very nice kriek. Elegant is the first word that comes to mind. Very refined and decadent even for a sour, but not at the expense of the funk. Fruity, but not very sweet. Adequately sour with lots of lingering oak. Deeelicious."

In short: An avalanche of fresh cherries with oak, mild tartness and farmhouse character. Excellent.
How: Bottle 750ml. Shared with Montreal friends. Bottle was approximately 6 months of age and sent to me by mcberko, thanks a lot Matt.
The look: Shinning bright dark red body topped by a beige ring of foam.
In long: Nose is an explosion of fresh dark and red cherries, a nice oak presence, a mild farmhouse character. Taste predominantly fruity with fresh dark cherries, fresh red cherries and a light raspberries sensation. A nice oak presence that adds a lot of depth without stealing the spotlight from the fruits. There is an overall farmhouse character without reaching the wild-funky territory. A mild acitidy/tartness adds a refreshing quality. Low sweetness sensation. This is classified on ratebeer as a Sour/Wild but this is really more of a mega- fruit beer with a light Sour/Wild twist. Truly an excellent beer, maybe the best Cascade I’ve ever had. A fantastic beer with a lot of class that is a perfect match for a fantastic classy person like me, and don’t tell me I’m a pretentious snob, I swear the next time someone calls me a pretentious snob I’m going to throw my colorful scarf over my shoulder, flip my hair and walk away.
