Tasted in early 2012 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle obtained in a trade. Pours cloudy burnt orange with an average off-white head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is caramel, stewed yams, toffee, and a lightly tart note underlying. The flavor is a bit more sour and pleasant overall, with the same malty caramel and toffee from the nose. The body is full with average carbonation and a long caramel malt and tart finish.

75cl bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, thanks to Paul for this one! Aroma is sour cherry, wood, and earthiness. Palate greets with a nice full feel, supporting the flavors with soft deluxe carbonation. Flavor has strong initial sourness -- a tart cherry sourness – beautifully complemented by woody character and must. Complex and delicious.

Purchased Charles St. Liquors, had at Joey’s. From the brewery that brought you really expressive fruit sours, here comes a reasonably expressive not fruit sour, with interesting red fruit notes and winelike grape tartness. Pretty darn sour. Good, not amazing.

Bottle via trade, shared at my birthday drinks. It pours cloudy mahogany brown with a small beige head. The nose is wood, hot jam, dark fruit, raisin, bruised cherry, earth, caramel, faint mustiness, coconut and vanilla. The taste is rather mellow, smooth, tart cherry, berry, sherbet, mouth-puckering tartness, green apple, jam, lemon, earth, wood and faint vanilla with a dry, tart finish. Medium+ body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Good depth of flavour, complexity, balance and integration. Rather delicious!

Bottle. Cheers to Paul! The pour’s deep red with a small head. the nose is red berry squash. Cranberry bog. Some sweet marzipan. Rotting oak. Some wild bugginess. The taste is red berry. Tannic funk. Tree bark. Earthy roasted nuts. Cocoa and grape. Seemingly incongruous flavors that somehow work very well together. Great vitality, drinks well. Overall, the best Cascade beer I’ve had.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during Paul’s Birthday Celebration - London. Thanks to the birthday man himself. Pours muddy amber with a creamy tan head. Definite notes of oxidation in the aroma, some toffee, berries, bread, a bit of leather. Light sweet flavor with ripened berries, moderate tartness, some brown bread, brown sugar, more toffee; less oxidation present in the flavor. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, some further tangy berries, bready malts and brown sugar. I like the aged character here.

Melange of different awesome shit, the barrels have a ton of presence, typical cascade sourness.

Pours a clear deep red brown color with a good sized fluffy off white head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. The aroma holds lots of dark fruits, I pick up prunes and plums with a light lactic tang thing going on. Sweet and dark sugars round out the malt side of things. The flavor is nice and a bit sweet up front with lots of dark fruits and deep sugars going on. Light lemon and grapefruity tartness mingle with a mild lactic presence. Medium body and level of carbonation with a sweet tarts mouthfeel going on. Nice beer, lightly tart with lots of sweet juicy fruits still surviving.

Bottle shared with friends. This was one that I’ve been looking forward to for some time now. Aroma has hints of sour fruit and a mellow tartness. Not super sour but that’s from the age I believe. This could be on the way down so I’d drink it now if I were holding onto a bottle.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Dark purplish-brown body. THin tan head. Cherries, dark fruits, musty wood, caramel, beligan yeasty spice. Moderate body, with medium carbonation, lingering semi-sweet finish, moderate acidity.

Pours hazy thick golden syrupy in color with a crimson amber hue and white head. The aroma brings some aged yeast and cherries, the bottle is 4 years old. The flavor brings the cherry notes of the Flanders but is very light on the puckering, almost non existant. It is juicy rather than dry and the sour mutes the flavor of the rest of the styles.
