1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, - AUG 24, 2005
Standard appearance for the style. Toasty malt aroma, a bit sweet and steamy, tin cans. Typical nutty urine malt flavour which stops very short and becomes a bit watery, then a pretty strong and quite metallic bitterness. I kinda enjoyed it - seemed very fresh at least. Competition for Boags Draught on the mainland now?
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 floydian1 (537) - FNQ, AUSTRALIA - OCT 21, 2011
Bottle. This is one of the beers that Cascade brew only for sale within Tasmania. It is a standard Aussie-style lager with a golden body and faint malt aromas. Flavour of sweet grainy malts and little else. Not much bitterness in the finish. Medium-light body.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 tom_clift (44) - Carnegie, AUSTRALIA - OCT 14, 2010
Keg at brewery. Harsh hop bitterness, little else. Similar to Carlton Draught.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 mkel07 (1806) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - SEP 24, 2010
375ml can. Actually looks okay for a pale lager with a bright gold orange colour and a deep foam head. Looks a lot better than most pale lagers. Aroma is mellow with malt dominating and the flavour is crisp and clean. Mildly bitter.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 bman1986 (173) - Broadstairs, Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2010
A pretty standard lager (or draught), whatever you want to call it. Light aroma and light flavour with just a hint of citrus and hop. I like it better than most of the aussie lagers but it’s still pretty forgettable. Perfect for sticking in the fridge and drinking at a BBQ I suppose.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 bluevegie (2926) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - DEC 2, 2009
Tried straight from the tap at the brewery after doing the tour and it was drinkable, Golden yellow body with short lasting head. Slightly grainy in aroma and taste and not as sweet as the bitter.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Stew41 (1457) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - NOV 18, 2008
Seems to be the staple tap offering for pubs in Tasmania’s south. Quite similar to the forgettable lager model although the malt weight has been stepped up a notch. I thought the tap version was average but this sample, straight from the bottle, showed the same crappy industrial malts but slivers of sweetness and genuine bitterness made this beer acceptable (just!).
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bragesnak (3859) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAR 29, 2008
Richmond, Tas, Australia
On tap
Thin and summer like lager
The cascade always helps to remember
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DuffMan (4423) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 24, 2007
Available only in Tasmania, as are the bitter and the lager. This is by far the best of the three, and one of the best bottled draught selections I’ve yet tried. Standard brassy gold with a foamy white head. Clean grainy aroma with a hint of fruit. The grainy palate has a faintly roasty quality, but a surprisingly refreshing fruitiness to the finish that is almost quenching (it made me think of quince). A pleasant surprise.
1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Thylacine (517) - Tasmania, AUSTRALIA - JUN 23, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2007 Yellowish amber with a white head which rapidly dissipates. Very thin bodied and overly carbonated, A metallic bitterness, otherwise rather tasteless.
