4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011 Project, bought from the brewery online for $21
It pours a murky rusty colour, started off with over a finger head of foam but that quickly dissipated. Very little lacing left behind.
You can certainly smell the sour cherries and the oak barrel. Some slight note of vanilla there. My nose is happy.
Tart cherries up front in the taste, oak flavours not so much. Alcohol extremely well hidden when it comes to what sits and swirls in my mouth, some definite warming during and after the swallow. Sour, yeah, but not overly so. Very slight hint of a vinegar sourness so I donít *think* that heartburn will be an issue.
Very tasty from the get go; I opened it at near room temp to get all of the flavours rather than opening after pulling from the fridge.
A delightfully delicious Wild Ale that I wish had a bit less alcohol to make it even more drinkable; as is, itís still and an easy drop to tip back.
Iím very impressed with what Cascade has made here. They sure do know their s*it.

750ml bottle care of Elise. 2012 Project. Deep murky grey dark brown-red, almost purple tints. Initial head fades out but the sides stay bubble thanks to the lively carbonation bubbles ever-rising. Sort of harsh acetone-vinegar sourness. Some pleasant sour cherry tones. Leathery bourbon caramel...mild, but adds some nice depth. No finesse in the sour, just hits you over the head. This beer is probably best in 5 oz samples...in no way sessionable, sort of a task, albeit an enjoyable task, to drink. A great concept, Cascade just doesnít succeed in subtlety.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown, pretty dark. Tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and sourness. Hint of cherry too. Donít get bourbon barrel, but sour. Taste is tart, feel it in my jowels. Lots if tart cherries, abv is well hidden. Get some sweetness in the taste too. Really nice balance of sour and sweet.

Bottle share thanks to beechner224. Dark brown pour with light brown creamy lasting head. Big sour, acidic, cherry, oaky, vanilla aroma. Sour, tart, lots of cherry notes, light roasty malt character, more of the barrel ones through here too. Tasty, well balanced, nice.

(bottle - corked & caged 750 ml - 2012 vintage) Dark copper pour with a thin tan head. Sour and tart funk in the aroma with a hint of cherries and sweetness. Nice sour and tart flavor at the start that gives way to a sweet fruity and cherry middle and you can definitely get hints of the barrel. Not so sour that it overpowers and really does well with the sweetness.

Tap at brewery. Dark reddish brown pour. Port wine, cherries, leather, oak, caramel. Medium to full body. Well balanced where it is not too oaky and you can actually feel the cherries and other fruit. Very nice
