COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for six months in French oak wine barrels, then additionally aged on elderberries. Sharp wine, dark raisins, red grapes and cereal notes greet you on the nose. Tart dark fruit and grapes on the palate lead to a sparkling crisp dry finish with hints of fresh elderberries and grape skins.

Bottle. From 2012, I think... A: Dark blue bordering on black. Purple creme head. Lacing. N: Your mother smells of...elderberry. Cherry. Oak. Lactic acid. Grapefruit and lemon rind. Currant and jam. Some strawberry. Sweet tart. T: Tart and sweet. A bit sharp. M: Light body, crisp carbonation. No alcohol. O: Solid. Elderberries add a nice dimension to this and it’s slightly more complex than some of their other beers.

On Tap at Bier:Thirty, Boise. Redish brown in the snifter. Faint quick light tan head settling to a thin ring. Lots of grape and berry tartness. Jam-like dark fruit notes. Some woody barrel hints as well. Very good

Pours a murky copper from the bomber with bubbly tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of funky sour earth, hint of barrel and spicy floral notes. Taste is mostly the lactic sour, like eating a war head, no elderberry there at all. Really good, but not what I thought it would be.

Pours a deep dark red w/ quick dissipating pink head. Aromas of big berry, vinous, and a little funk. Flavors of sour berry, vinegar notes...funky sour greatness!

One of the better cascade sours, this one is perfectly tart and fruity. Will get again one day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle. Thanks to Tim G. Color is a murkey deep brown. Aroma is a variety of berries, blackberry, elderberry, mixed berry jam.

The flavor got very intensely sour as it warmed. Acidic notes that give a sharp pucker in the taste buds. It does show a good amount of berries with a jam-like character. It also has some tannic oak hints.

I never turn down a brew that is offered to me but this is not the kind of brew I would openly buy or order. My review reflects my enjoyment level of this. For me just way to sour.

Personal note: Rating number 100 for the state of Oregon

Sample at Hoof Hearted during the Dragonsaddle Triple IPA Can Release on 11/15/2015. Dark brown pour with some ruby around the edges, and a medium thin pinkish white head that evaporates quickly to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of berries, oak and yeast. Medium body with flavors of tart berries, yeast, oak and biscuit malt. The finish is moderately tart with a berry and fig aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Tap at the barrel house. Deep mahogany pour with a white head. I’m not sure what an elderberry is, but I get something like a cross between a blueberry and blackberry. And I dig it. Sour bite on the tongue, soft finish. Very nice.
