Tap at the Barrel House. Pours ruddy and plummy with an off-white head. Elderberry aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is darkly sour with red/elderberry flavor. The flavor is a bit mixed with fruit and something wood or similar. Quite nice.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8243) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2012
A hazed brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a smooth lactic malt with light raspberry notes, Brett, nice. In mouth, a nice lactic malt with light sour cherries, raspy mouthfeel, nice and smooth. On tap at Portland brewery, Oct. 7 2012.

Dark amber beer. The nose is very fruity and fresh. A touch of barrel character adds light vanilla notes and a bit of vineous complexity. Soft tannins in here as well that keep it interesting. Tart and lactic keep the beer very bright and fruity. A bit of lingering earthiness. Damn delicious stuff.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (7379) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JAN 1, 2013
On tap at Sourfest. Pours with a hazy/murky deep brown hued body with a small, off-white head. Aromas are mildly tart, concord grapes, elderberry, medium malt, light oak. Flavors are tart and clean, dry and acidic with only a mild fruit and some tannin. Medium carbonation and dry. A little bit lifeless compared to some of the other Cascade sours.

acetic and vinegar-like, brine and salt character is strong. medium-light body with low bitterness but heavy acid. black pepper phenols seem to overwhelm after a short time. crunchy oat bran malt layers hidden under the acid. decent but nothing special.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 womencantsail (6896) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - JUL 10, 2012
Reddish in color with small head to it. I don’t get all that much elderberry, but there is some grape and nondescript berry aroma to it. Lightly floral with plenty of wood and acidity. The flavor is lightly acetic, but still maintains a good lactic character as well. Plenty of fruit, some spicy wood, light tannins, and a bit of booze. Really different.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (5413) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 2, 2011
Nose is full of sour, vinegar, berries, some brine. Pours reddish, with hints of purple and shit. Flavors of tart, sour, fruity berry notes, some grape skins, brine. Interesting, nice, drinkable and sour as fuck.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DuffMan (5194) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 28, 2012
On tap @ the brewpub in Portland. Dark purplish colour (we were outside and it was dark, so not sure of the exact colour descriptors here!). Aroma is sour, but not as bracingly sour as the apricot I just had, with berry fruit notes among the funk. Lovely tart berries and funk and yoghurty acid, light vanilla, light wood. More quenching than puckering. I really enjoyed this one. For me it possessed a balance that lent to crazy drinkability.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (4727) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUL 28, 2012
Draught at the Barrel House. Deep crimson with brown, lace. Nose of cherry, yogurt, acid, light vinegar, berry. Nicely sour flavor, vinegar, cherry, can’t really find the elderberry (what do they taste like anyway?). Good, though not as great as many of the others.
