4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Newk (299) - - JUN 28, 2012poured from tap into a tulip. Pours a nice blonde color with a real foamy head.
Very zesty aromas of spices, lemon curds, some raisins and tart citrus tones. There is definitely a sourness to it, but it’s slightly tart than it is outright sour.
Medium/full bodied with a real nice and smooth feel. Good flavor depth with notes of lemon curds, spices, and tart citrus’.
This was a really nice and well balanced beer. Had a nice tartness to it as opposed to being downright sour.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (3380) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 18, 2013
Bottle, many thanks to Bruce! It pours golden-amber with a quickly dissipating white head. The nose is rather fragrant, vinous, white grape, apricot, fresh fig and wood. The taste is initially tart, sour apricot, peach, earth, wood, lemon, acidic, faint caramel, lemon and tart white wine with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Tart and tasty, another quality sour from Cascade.

bottle. clean big sour blonde ale in cascade fashion with a unique sweet fig presence. seems to work reasonably well, but not my favorite of the cascade fruited sour brews. hint of lemon. white wine barrel gives off somewhat of an old musty doughiness. pretty good.

A very flavourful Sour ale. The barrels are noticeable, as well as the fruit. Flavours of lemon, funk, yeast. Alcohol is well integrated.

17th May 2013 Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks again to Bruce for hauling back another rarity. Pretty much clear gold beer, residual bubbly white head. Light palate, mildly crisp. Light sourness, a little Worcester sauce. Nice white wine vibe that goes well with the crisp finish.

On tap at City Beer. Pour is hazy orange with a small white head and decent lacing. Peachy, apricots, light lemon, a touch of caramel, somewhat funky, citrusy, and oaky aroma. Taste is big lemon peel, sour grapes, white wine, pears, green apples, oak, and orange peel with a big sour finish. Light body with high carbonation. Nice sour, citric and dry.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 joeneugs (2181) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 18, 2013
On draft at City Beer. It pours a golden color with an off white head. The aroma is a touch on the acetic side of things with some white vinegar and funky apricots. The flavor is better with some mild notes of sweet figs and stronger sour white white and stone fruits. Full body. Good honey and fruit sweetness underneath all the sour. Finishes surprisingly clean without slashing the throat. Draws the mouthwater something fierce. I didn’t think I would like this after smelling the acetic acid, but I didn’t get any of it in the flavor. It actually turned out very pleasant and satisfying with a good balance of sweet and sour.

On tap at city beer. The pour is clear and golden. Smell has a lot of lemon and hints of wine (very sour smelling). The taste is a wallop of lemon up front, dry finish with a another kick of sourness on the way down.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (7181) - London, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2013
Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks to Bruce for this Pacific NW rarity. Pours Lilly hazy gold with a slight, white foam head. Some tangy citrus in the nose, hints of herbs, light funk. Light to medium sweet flavor, some funk, apricots, orange and tangerine, moderate tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent sweetness to finish, further citrus, apricot, some peach, pleasant sourness. Very fresh and refreshing. Wonderful.

2011. Chardonnay all day. Standard Cascade yeast, oak, fruits, and a touch of vinegar all supplement the profile. Fruit character is a bit ambiguous, but to be fair, I don’t eat figs by themselves pretty much ever. Finishes dry and slightly vinous.
Don’t think I’ll ever understand the Cascade haters. I really enjoy their sours.
