Unbelievable sour. Lots going on. Great tart medium sweet profile. The figs, lemon, and the barrel all come through as well as all kinds of subtle notes.

Bottle thanks to my boy Seth. OUT-FREAKIN-STANDING. Murky burnt orange pour with an off white head. Sweet white nectarine, fig, wood, and strawberry/watermelon aromas. WTF?? Effervescent and refreshing with a wonderful mouthfeel and great body/balance. All kinds of white nectarine, sweet citrus, mildly tart and acidic stone fruit, and woody notes. Glad me and the little lady got to share this bottle over a nice cheese and fruit spread.

Sampled at EBF. 750ml bottle pours a clear, honey gold with some thin, white head. Nose is wonderful and inviting, apricot, honey, green fig, white grape, a little butterscotch, some neutral oak, a little minerality. Flavor is tart and light sweet, white grape, unripened peach, apricot, green fig, light honey, flower petals, some citrus pith, a little touch of funk, wood shavings, apple cider. Acetic only to the point of being refreshing. Incredibly drinkable.

Bottle. Clear golden with a short lived white fluffy head. Musty caramel, green apple, lemon zest, fig, and oak aroma. Creamy very bright full bodied palate. Sweet caramel, vanilla, and grape flavors up front followed by lemon and orange juice flavors mid palate, which are replaced with sharp sour fruit, Chardonnay, and fig flavors and finishing with dry sour fruit flavors and a lingering green olive taste on the very end. Interesting complexity and nice balance. Well done.

Bottle shared with friends. This could be my favorite Cascade sour to date. The sour funkness is just all over the place, both in the aroma and flavor. Don’t need to dress it up all fancy, it just rocks!

On tap at City Beer during the bottle release. Aroma and flavors of lemon, orange, Chardonnay, and slightly sweet wines. The palate is smooth on the front end, juicy in the middle, and semi-dry on the back end. Carb is good, although loses limited lacing and head after pour. I am very impressed by this beer. Doesn't have the funk of RR, but very enjoyable none the less. Excellent beer.

Orangish pour. White head. Tart, lactic aroma, some mandarin oranges, white balsamic, light tropical notes. Sweet/sour flavor. White wine notes, oak, sour oranges. Damn nice!

My Bottom Line:
This velvety and slick Sour Ale showcases lemon peel and floral honey resting on lactic tartness. A masterful mélange the likes of which I’d love to take advantage of more often.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the misty honeyed gold.
-Alcohol is extremely well hidden. This is a dangerous brew.
-The soft bubbling and curvaceous texture made for a most silky mouthfeel. A rare thing for this type of beer, in my experience.
-The flavor profile is not too intense, which can be the case for Cascade brews sometimes. This is classy and approachable from aroma to finish.
-Figs are hard to perceive, but if they contribute to making this brew as great as it is, I have no problem with that. ;)
Bottle.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks to Bruce for this Pacific NW rarity. Pours Lilly hazy gold with a slight, white foam head. Some tangy citrus in the nose, hints of herbs, light funk. Light to medium sweet flavor, some funk, apricots, orange and tangerine, moderate tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent sweetness to finish, further citrus, apricot, some peach, pleasant sourness. Very fresh and refreshing. Wonderful.
