This NW style sour ale is a strong blond ale aged in chardonnay barrels for up to 12 months, then aged with dried white figs and lemon peel or up to 12 more months. Aromas of sweet figs, golden raisins, and citrus zest are the first to be noticed. Hints of white wine grapes, lemon peel, and sweet figs roll across the palate, leading to a crisp lemon tartness in the finish that leaves a lingering sweetness on the tongue.

Bottle at Bruceís, London. Thanks to Bruce for this Pacific NW rarity. Pours Lilly hazy gold with a slight, white foam head. Some tangy citrus in the nose, hints of herbs, light funk. Light to medium sweet flavor, some funk, apricots, orange and tangerine, moderate tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent sweetness to finish, further citrus, apricot, some peach, pleasant sourness. Very fresh and refreshing. Wonderful.

HMOG 2015. Interesting fruit combo coming together behind cascades typical bigger body malt back bone on their sours. Light and subtle fruit, slight sweetness from the figs. Touch of wine and oak.

Bottle (2011) at Mikkeller&Friends - thanks to me. Wooden. Grapes. Light figs. Sourness. Peppery. Sweet fruit. Oiley feeling. Grilled lemons. Tart notes. Light white sugar. Zesty. Nice acid sharpness in the finish , to balance the sweetness and fatness.

Bottle. Tart citrus aroma. Amber color, slight haze, pretty effervescent. Minimal head. Some grapefruit, a complex tartness, well balanced and delightful mouth feel. Terrific sour. A little sticky and sweet too.

Sample at the Sour Sunday 2015. Hazy golden with a small white head. Nicely sour with oak, apple, grape and something that reminded of white wine. The body was failry light and the finish sour. A nice one.

Bottle to glass. Pours a mostly clear golden yellow light orange color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is tart, citrus, white wine, grapes. Flavor has a big sour, citrus. Oily on the palate, with a long lingering sour. Delicious!

Pour out of bottle, hazy golden with fizzy white head, aroma brought notes of big white grape, white wine into some lemon, lacto, touch of slight funk with some biscuit, touch of spice. Taste is a nice mix of earth, funk, touch of yogurt into lacto, lemon peel, some oak into lots of white grape, white wine, dry tannic notes, finishing pretty tart, dry. Interesting, though I donít really get any fig flavor.

1/24/15. Sour Beer Day hanging out with Mrs. Owl between two trips! 750mL bottle from Chanís, Shalimar. Hazy orange pour with a very short lived off-white head, basically no lacing. Acidity, I guess. Huge sour aroma, American alright, lots of sour without much funk, mild fruitiness. Very sour taste, but I dig that, and so does Mrs. Owl. Smarties/sweet tarts, definitely American, mild vinous aspects, fruity, rich. Bold, not overly complex. Probably the best part is that itís a quaffable sour with high boost. Iíd go to town on Cascade beers if they werenít all $35+ in the stores. Eff that.
