This NW style sour ale is a strong blond ale aged in chardonnay barrels for up to 12 months, then aged with dried white figs and lemon peel or up to 12 more months. Aromas of sweet figs, golden raisins, and citrus zest are the first to be noticed. Hints of white wine grapes, lemon peel, and sweet figs roll across the palate, leading to a crisp lemon tartness in the finish that leaves a lingering sweetness on the tongue.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks to Bruce for this Pacific NW rarity. Pours Lilly hazy gold with a slight, white foam head. Some tangy citrus in the nose, hints of herbs, light funk. Light to medium sweet flavor, some funk, apricots, orange and tangerine, moderate tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent sweetness to finish, further citrus, apricot, some peach, pleasant sourness. Very fresh and refreshing. Wonderful.

Huge fruity aromas almost bubble gum like with fresh fruit. Hazy reddish gold with no head. Smooth sour fruity still with some good sour bite. Cleaning most of the mouth leaving a light sour coat.

bottle, from Bottle Revolution RDU, I think, maybe Traingle Wine, they both had it. good aroma, raisin, chardonnay barrel, vinegar. clean golden orange color, not much head, no lace. medium sourness in flavor, medium body, smooth mouthfeel, tart finish, that’s nice. good tart bite on finish. easy to drink for 10%. expensive, but cheaper than flying to Portland.

HMOG 2015. Interesting fruit combo coming together behind cascades typical bigger body malt back bone on their sours. Light and subtle fruit, slight sweetness from the figs. Touch of wine and oak.

HMOG 2015. Suprised I haven’t had this one. Figs and raisins are subtle with an acidic tart finish containing lemon and citrus. Fantastic.

Bottle (2011) at Mikkeller&Friends - thanks to me. Wooden. Grapes. Light figs. Sourness. Peppery. Sweet fruit. Oiley feeling. Grilled lemons. Tart notes. Light white sugar. Zesty. Nice acid sharpness in the finish , to balance the sweetness and fatness.
