This light farmhouse ale is our offering for this year’s festival, the 4th Annual Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers. We have aged it for 3 months in white port barrels which were previously used to aged our Noyeaux. This is a nice crisp sour beer with a trace of influence from the Noyeaux.

On tap at Cascade, pours a hazy golden blonde with almost no head. Aroma brings out notes of lemon, grass, and cherries - moderate sweetness and moderate sourness. Flavour brings out lemon, some stone fruits and citrus zest. Finishes on notes of vanilla and oaky citrus. Very soft palate, barely carbonated. Not very complex or refined. Decent, but lacking.

A: The beer pours a hazy golden straw color with a finger of white head. S: The nose starts off with some yeast and a fair amount of wine and oak. There is a light tartness with some definite funk. A touch of grass and lemon peel, maybe a little bit of fruit/citrus. T: Lightly tart with some lemon and other citrus. There is a bit of wine and oak and a bit more lemon peel. There is just a very mild vinegar note on the finish. Throughout the beer there seems to be an underlying funk to it. M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. O: The flavor and aroma were decently complex and overall just quite enjoyable.

On tap. Pours with a clear golden hue with some amazing lace from the white head. Quite an interesting aroma, quite phenolic, spicy, wood notes. Nearly and apple brandy character. Sharp wood, pepper, wine and funk. Flavors are quite funky as well, sharp, tannic, oak. Really sharp lactic notes. Medium bubbles, quite dry.

On tap in Nov 2010. Bright yellow gold and hazy brew with a thick white cap and 360 degrees of mess. Smells great - light apricot, sourness, weak funk, citruses and soft melon. Light sour taste with more apricots, salt, yeast, weak pepper, light grass and comes across chewy. Man, old reviews from notes can suck!

Tap at Cascade Barrel House. Butterscotch colored pour with a white head and light lacing. Smells of white grapes, yeast, lemon, peach. Tastes of yeast, lemon, grapes, a nice puckering taste followed by a crisp, light finish. Good beer.

A sour beer with port aging. Sounded intriguing. not the tartest of the Cascade beers. mellow and easy to drink. tinge of acidity at the end. some white wine characteristics.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy gold color with a white, lacey head. Tangy vinous and sour aroma with some stone fruit, bright and peachy. The flavor is light and refreshing but decently sour and tangy. Nice balance with lemon and other fruit adding to a light spice. Light with ample carbonation. A really nice tangy farmhouse ale, with great fruitiness and just a touch of vinous barrel character to round things out. I could drink a lot of this stuff.
