750mL bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish brown. Aroma has a ton a of mildly tart fresh cherries, sweet citrus, and a bit of oak. Taste has lots of cherry peel, tart cherry fruit, and very strong acidity. Disappointing absence of funk. Finish has a lot of cherry peel with some lemon peel bitterness.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 EricE (1288) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JUL 4, 2010
Bottle from Capones. Make sure you have your Rolaids on hand before you drink this one. This is some sour, acidic stuff. Pours a hazy orange brown with a light tan head. I don’t get too much cherry on the nose, but it does has lots of tropical fruit. Funky with a bit of coconut. Very very tart, almost vinegary. Dry, with light cherry. Sourness lingers on the tongue for a long time. I liked the Apricot better.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2010 750 ml 2009 bottling. Cork pops open vigorously. Dark ruby red and hazy. Huge cherry/lactic/sour nose. Small head dissipates fast. Serious sourness/tartness, lots of cherries, mouth puckering. Fluffy and effervescent. Taste goes with you all the way down. Delicious. Can’t drink this one fast enough.

Pours a very nice red-tinted brown color. Aromas of cherry and oak dominate, with some lactic sour present too with the slightest hint of acetic. Pretty highly carbonated. The taste brings cherry and plumb, with a nice tartness and just a little vinegar to follow with a bubbly earthy finish. Drinks very nicely

750ml bottle into standard pint glass. Pours amber in color with medium white head. Smells of sour cherries, brett, and barnyard funk. Medium mouth feel with lots of carbonation. Taste just like the aroma, lots of sour dark fruits, brett, and loads of funkiness. Great american kriek.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2011 Rerate: 2010 release. Huge lactic acidity. Nice subtle cherry fruitiness. The arid really pops in this beer now, and I like the balance much better than I used to. Cascade is really making some of the best sour beers in the country now.
Original rating: 2008 release. Bottle declares 8.1% abv. This was a nice find at Beer Revolution. More of a dark ripe cherry in the aroma with a nice lactic kick and a touch of vanilla. The flvor is nicey sour but remains balanced with a touch of residual sugar and an overall moderate level of acidity. Cherry is there but nowhere as intense as some Belgian krieks. Medium to light bodied and medium high on the spritz. Enjoyable stuff but not the most complex for the style and misses the funk of a lambic based kriek, which always provides a nice counter. Bottle
Pours a deep, muddy tea brown with an aroma of wet cedar and leafy cherries taken from the earth after a light rain in October. Flavor is cherry cedar, cherry, limeade, and lemon juice. Oily mouthfeel. Wow.
