Appearance: deep garnet/mahogany, with a purplish/tan head and average lacing. Aroma: tart, slightly funky and slightly sweet, with oude bruin notes and a nice dose of cherries. Taste: sharp, sweetish cherries up front becoming more tart as it warms; there’s a bit of leathery caramel malt and some woody sharpness. Finish: lasting sweet-tart cherries over just a hint of funky tootsie roll. Notes: Superlative kriek. Not as over-sweetened as some of the more commercially prevalent varieties (which are nonetheless guilty pleasures), and superior in every way to them. Bottle from Sarah for Beerdvent 2014.

Draft at the raccoon brew pub. 2013 project. Pours a dark reddish color with a super tart cherry aroma. All cherry flavor here, starts sweet and turns sour towards the finish, but not too sour. Just barely sour enough to scare people away, but it’s exactly what I look for. I’m not surprised here. Just another incredible beer from these guys. Loved it.

2013 Project Bottle; Pour is murky mahogany with a fine bubbled beige head into this glass. The head dissipates fairly quickly , into something more on the modest side, and retains well from there. The nose is acetic, modest cherry notes, moving to spicy oak, with some caramel malt presence here. The flavor profile starts slowly, but picks up steam to something tart and soured. Oaked notes kick it off with peppery spice, moving to caramel notes and feint earth, and then the cherry skins and cherry juices move it forward to souring notes of acetic and light lemon, finishing with a lingering tartness on the tongue - It’s not a perfect creation but I was overall impressed by this one

750ml bottle (2011 project) in a taster. Pours amber/brown with a small head. Aroma of sourness, cherries, some oak, hints of spices, and some light darker malts. The sourness and the cherries dominate this, and they’re great. Average texture. A really cool beer.

Bottle to glass. Pours a murky brownish color with deep reddish hues and a light brown pinkish head. Aroma is mildly tart, oak, cherries. Flavor packs a sour punch, with cherry and other sour fruits. Light to medium body with a nice tart finish. Excellent sour ale!

75cl bottle shared. Brownish red, with pinky white head. Tart cherry nose, lots of wood and barrel, some sweeter more medicinal cherry too, twist of citrus. Good vibrant cherry taste, juicy, then more acidic, then drying. Good woody funk, more barrel notes. Cherry and wood linger. Good.

"light cherry and sour/funky aroma followed by a rather light feel and flavor as well. 2008 bottling...wondering if the cherry and or sour aspects have faded a bit. still tasty. nothing wrong with this beer, but it was the most expensive beer of the night and i’m scoring it lower than just about all of the others. i was expecting a little more fruit and/or sour/tartness. slightly fresher = slightly better, but the apricot kicks this one butt :)"

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2014 Foggy guava color, fine grained head. Wine bottle, bad label. Sour fruity, lambicky aroma. Tongue - curling sourness. Kicks tail. ’Nuff said. Thanks to the fellow Ratebeerians @ Baby Proof.
