A consistently solid brewery with a consistently solid sour cherry beer. Nice balance of sourness and acidity; doesn’t quite burn going down, but could probably use a bit less acetic acid. Still pretty clean, extremely lively, and loaded with tart cherry taste. An extremely good interpretation of the style for America.

Pours lake water brown with thick tan head. Aroma of huge sour cherries. Nice Brett funk as well. taste loaded with sourness and vinegar. Medium palate. Sour finish. Tons of acidity. This one made me pucker.

This is one incredibly sour beer. It hurt my cheeks. I was shocked to have missed this one. So good, with lots of cherries in the nose and taste. Sour, Sour, Sour. Great! Love it!

Bottle from Capones. Pours a somewhat muddy red-brown with a pinkish head. Not the pretties beer and kind of murky. Nose is really nice. Bright lactic acid and a hint of sharp acetic acid. Bright pie cherry notes as well. Kind of like a soured Belgian Red, really. On taste, the acidity is quite sharp, leading me to believe that there is some acetobacter in here as well as the lacto. Strong cherry component really carries through with some light residual sweetness and a round body. Pretty damn good Kriek.

Tasted on 5/9/11 from a 75omL corked and caged bottle obtained in a trade, 2009 vintage. Pours clear light red wine color with a thick pink-tinted head that slowly recedes to uneven lacing. The nose is super sour natural cherry along with a good dose of citrus, lightly sweet aged balsamic, with a good amount of vanilla oak. The flavor is very similar with the sour notes coming through as more citrus along with the natural cherry, a hint of aged balsamic, and vanilla oak tannin. The body is light with lively carbonation and a super long citrus, cherry, and tannic vanilla oak finish.

750ml cork & cage bottle. Heavily hazed orange/brown pour with creamy cappuccino head. Sour, oaky nose with a milky quality. The cherries are there but nicely subdued to let other nuances play out. Has a bit of a red wine vibe. Hugely mouth puckering sour cherry flavour that really makes you salivate like a starved canine. That oaky note plays out nicely, blunting the sourness just a bit, leaving a nice sour woody finish.
